That's being generous...the way we are currently going it will take another 30 years to produce results....
Once we have the right people in charge it won't take long before we clear oout the dead wood from our squad and replace them with good first graders. The players I would lose are:
Dufty
Ravalawa
Pereira
Aitken
Lafai
Graham
Latimore
Allgood
Kerr
Robson is already on his way
Masters
Runciman

Then lets sign some top first graders to complete our top 17. Ideally:
1. Mitchell
2. Saab
3. Lomax
4. New signing
5. Pearson
6. Norman
7. Hunt
8. RCG
9 McInnes
10. Vaughan
11. T Sims
12. K Sims
13. Frizell

14. Timm
15. Leilua
16. Lawrie
17. Host

That is 3 new signings Mitchell, RCG and a new centre.

Of course we need a completely new coaching staff ASAP. Hire Gould to make it all happen. He could land MItchell, RCG and a left centre I'm sure.

Gould was Mitchell’s pubic enemy number one why would Gould land Mitchell yet why would we want someone as unpredictable as Mitchell ....
We need some class in the backline. There maybe some good reasons why Mitchel is not his usual self over the past few weeks. He is a top line player and we have all seen how good he can be.

Gould is a professional and would do his job in a professional manner. He would negotiate with Mitchell's manager and seal the deal.

Class being the word you choose wouldn’t be a word I used when talking about Mitchell but yea let’s rush in and offer him what ?

Mitchell would have nothing to do with Gould hahaha his the main reason Mitchell’s isn’t in the nsw team

Yep, that's the obstacle in signing a player when you can only offer the guarantee of half a season (due to uncertainty over JDB). They needed to fill the 30th spot on the roster by June 30 (as all 16 clubs do - it's the rule), they have done this.

However, just to clarify something, all the development players (Eddie Blacker, Jackson Ford, Hayden Lomax, Joe Lovodua, Steven Marsters and Jason Saab) in the 30-man squad become eligible to play NRL after June 30. That's another part of the 30-man roster rules. With Lachlan Maranta playing against the Sea Eagles, the Dragons were granted an exemption to use a player from outside the top 30 (a few other clubs have needed to do this as well - some have eventually added the player, like the Panthers when Tim Grant retired & opened up a spot on their 30-man roster).
Maranta is in the top 30. The exemption was to name a player who was not originally named in the 21 on Tuesday arvo due to Lomax being injured at training later in the week

We will see. Might me a good signing for us.

My beef is with the club and Johnston in particular for tugging the forelock to Greenback and Beattie. We were placed in an impossible situation to find a quality player willing to sign just for the rest of this year. We know it cost us Merrin and Faitala Marriner at least (and others that we didn't even hear about cos player agents simply shut down discussions as soon as they heard it was De Belin and the little we could offer). If, as seems likely, De Belin's case drags on into next year, we have to reapply to the same worthies for permission to replace him again.

Am I the only one who feels this is monumentally unfair and should be challenged by SGI in the courts.? We should have been offered an additional (ie 31st) place on our roster with the ability to offer a player the same deal that De Belin is enjoying for the duration of his contract ie 2019 and 2020. While I acknowledge Mary's unique brand of incompetence is principally responsible for landing us in 14th position, lack of depth and uncertainty about the roster have also been contributing factors.

I thought we could. We could only get little dispensation this year as we have paid him already over half a year and can use what the official time left of his appeal being knocked down.???
If he is out for all of next year I was of the opinion we would have his salary to spend next year which is about 600K, which we could apply for at the beginning of the year and we could replace him as the 30th player even this year. (i.e not have to play 1 short if we wish).
The fact that he is going back to the courts shortly to fight the NRL might mean St george need to keep him on his books if his appeal is upheld and he can still play this year. (hedging bets)
The criminal charge...well that could be played out for another year or longer
.

But surely the point is that we should have been able to sign a player NOW for the remainder of this year and for the duration of 2020- but we can't. As I understand it, we have to wait and then apply in 2020 as we did this year, until approval is given by the NRL to effectively do the same thing we've just done this year- which is recruit a player for a fraction of the season. Totally unfair.

No, you’re not the only one who feels it’s unfair to the club. I posted something similar a few weeks back.

No..if we apply in Nov 19, we can recruit for full freight next season then JDB does not play. The fact is his appeal for the NRL sanction is in progress they cant cut off ties nor will they as he still may win that appeal. it is up to the Dragons but they will know by November outcome of his appeal and when court date for trial if it gets there is to make a decision on next year.
