That was a concern. Even if it was the game plan, you'd expect a half to see that Moga was flattening CHN every time he got that short ball, and cut him out.

Just how tied to the plan are the players? Because it was a far cry from the player who made a break and then chipped to the wing for Peachey to take on the full and score from the previous season.

Could of been some of second year syndrome a bit. That is the sort of vision we need to see more of

I can't agree with this point for one reason. The clubs that have been top four all have experienced halves. We have not had that since Griffin arrived. A clapped out broken Soward and Wallace were not able to continue as halves and Griffin has had to build again. It is the spine that has let us down. the Brisbane game and Cleary's lack of experience a glaring example. You can have a great roster but without a spine to guide it around, you will struggle.

Hopefully, this year with Maloney on board and Cleary with another off season under his belt, we can see a big improvement. Edwards will be better for last years experience and is a quality player even with his relatively little experience, that just leaves hooker as the missing piece. Wallace is on his last legs and we need a good quality hooker to replace him.

Atleast we play 2 hookers. That will help phase him out bench hooker (atm Katoa hopefully Egan later in the year) can get more gametime as the year goes on

Griffin refused to move Moylan to 5/8 earlier

He let Seg go.

He was partly responsible for the problems in the spine.

But as I say, he had the same record at the broncos, only a superstar in Lockyer ever got him competitive against top 8 teams.

But this season will absolutely confirm or reject the hypothesis. If we aren’t competitive against the top 8 this year, we’ll never be with Griffin as coach. It shouldn’t be hopefully, it must happen or he should go.

Also Wade Egan will very likely be our future hooker. He’s in the top 30 this year.

Egan's rise has been insanely quick. He must be some talent and you're right, definitely seen as our hooker.

Cleary didn't move him either. What is to say he ever would of moved him? While he will start at 5/8th. If he gets moved back does that justify playing him at fullback?

Egan is so far. The final 29 on March 29 will be interesting. I hope he stays as a look to the future gives us options if he carves up the trials. He and Martin are our best 2 yet to debut

You haven't seen him play?

Only a little. I don't get a lot of time to watch the lower grades. Half the time I have to record the first grade to watch around my work schedule. Sucks because it'd be nice to keep an eye on the young talent being developed.

Ahh NSW Cup being on ch9 as well as Fox will help that. Looks very strong lets hope he continues on

This probably shows his skills best

Cleary didn't need to move him. Soward was going pretty well for most of the time when Cleary was coach.

I completely agree. Can't be paying silly overs for players *cough* Tamou *cough*

Ive never rated Tamou.
Merrin in 2016 was top 4 or 5 forward in game. His form was amazing and worth every cent. Im sure Josh Jackson signed for around 600k the same as Merrin. If Merrin gets back to 2016 form I know who id rather. Plus he is 28. Not anyhwere near past best.

The media have him on a 4 year deal worth near $3m. ~$750k a season.

He and Moylan signed their 5 years deals on unders at the time. Around $500k a season.

Even if you dont trust whats in the media. Gus has said he wants to maximise everyones earning potential even if it means leaving us. Which is great for the players. But its f**king destroying our roster. Think he said that when questioned about Peachey. He doesnt want to stand in the way of his big pay day at Titans.

Look Gus is saying this to make himself look good. And the reason he has Hook is cause he is a puppet. Gus is running his only little dictatorship down there. Its quite funny.
But as far as sucess goes its been solid the last few seasons. Esepcialy if consider all 3 grades.

Step 1: Wait to the end of the season.
Step 2: Look at the ladder.
Step 3: Teams in the top 8 are top 8 teams.

That's about it, really.

Parra before rnd 12 had no Moses.
What about Eels besting an origin player depleted storm?
It isnt always about ypur own teams injuries but also the team your playing and how desperate they are at time.
