Quiney, Wade and White were in their batting lineup.

Rolling them is hardly an achievement. Especially since the South Aussies have quite a decent pace attack this year.

Roads? The Victorians were rolled for 118 and SA was 2/36. 12 wickets had fallen by Tea on the first day. It was not a road.

And batsmen needed 2 great seasons of shield a decade ago. Noone else is held by that standard now.

No one else has got picked 3 times and dropped 3 times either....

Brilliant ton by Hughes on his birthday. He's knocking on the door and he's knocking hard. Rogers, Watson, Smith and Bailey must perform asap.

I rate Hughes. One of the more naturally gifted players in the country.

Unfortunately I think he is a bit weak mentally. TBH his technical deficiancies were never a problem until people started talking about them. Seemed to get to him.

I don't know if that he was unlucky to be dropped, but he was certainly unlucky to be dropped before protected species Watson.

6 Dismissals this year.

1 run out
1 to a paceman
4 to spinners

Good to see that he's worked out his weaknesses..

i think he's been f**Ked over myself - someones gotten to him and tried to change his focus/technique and totally killed his eye and confidence.

he may yet come good. he'll need to score big runs for a long while to get a recall though.

I agree completely. His so-called technical deficiencies weren't a problem until people started telling him to fix them. All of a sudden he started dwelling on them and his game went to shit (although still not as bad as Watson's).

Trying to slash the ball through an eight man slip cordon whilst simultaneously jumping in the air and backing away to leg side is actually not very good technique. People were right to tell him to change that part of his game. It really wasn't working very well for him.

I disagree to a degree. Has he been mentally scarred? Yes but not by the technique adjustments. But by being f**ked around with in and out of the team and up and down the order.

Technically he is much better against accurate pace bowling. He can do a lot more on the leg side. Technically he is a better batsman than in 2009.

But now to make the most of that and his abundant natural talent he needs to be given a real go at opener and only opener.

Rogers doesn't have much more cricket in him. Hopefully when he goes Hughes is given a REAL opportunity.

And he got good scores in 3 of his last 4 tests.

I'd like to have a go in the spot he is supposed to bat. Opener. Batting all over the middle order is not where he will succeed.

If a middle order spot opened up I'd actually be against picking him. He should only be picked to open.

He already averages less than 40 as opener from well over half of his games in test cricket. He gets moved around because he can't handle test cricket.
