I think that the decision should be up to the players based on his family's wishes. And I think they will decide to play.
I also think that any test this year is too early to start a special day for Phil. If the Gabba test goes ahead it will be special for a lot of reasons, most of them solemn but some happy. The best way to remember someone isn't when they're at their worst moment in life it's when they were at their best and any day or event should celebrate Phil Hughes' love of life, his family and mates and his joy of cricket.
Agreed.
What should be done if the Gabba test goes ahead is a tribute during the lunch break and his Test number painted onto the field like some Grade teams are doing this weekend. Something small. Then later we can decide what special annual day is held in his honour in future years, whether that be at the SCG Test or the Adelaide Oval Test.
Its too raw for anyone to organise a test day to Phil just yet, and most likely will be for next season if something like this goes ahead.
What we do know is if the Gabba test goes ahead black armbands will be worn by the players, that in itself will be an emotional time for all concerned throughout the 5 days
