Southwest Sydney and Parramatta already have existing stadiums for whatever event that needs to be staged.

It's out West, between Blacktown and Lithgow, where an all purpose built stadium needs to be built in an area which has the fastest growing population in the entire country.

But of course a major factor such as this gets lost in translation when the rabble of red tape and inner city favoritism gets involved.

Cool drawing?

The point is that this is how to make ANZ good.

if the field was run east to west, the east and west stands can be left as they are.

north and south stands would need to be build but they could be brought well forward and would not need to bare any weight from the roof, cutting the costs dramatically.

If this was build the atmosphere would be amazing. the stadium would effectively be this...

And the cost to do it would be absolutely massive. You would effectively have to redo the whole stadium. And sun issues running towards one end

Not really...

Stadiums supporting roofs are expensive to build. Just look at Perth Ovals new stand; its just one side of the field and it cost $200 million.

this however....

was build in 2009 for $60 million, because it doesnt need to be reenforced to support a roof.

Why do you think the build the huge wings on Stadium Australia when they first opened it only to tear them down 2 years later???

Because it was cheap. All they would have to do is rebuild these, just brought forward to the current tryline...

sun issues running towards one end

It wouldnt be that hard to schedule ONE stadium to only hold night games.

How many day games does ANZ have now???

Edit: And even if that was too hard this is assuming it gets the roof...

Not quite, east stand cost around $75mill and has a very basic roof structure with around 12k seats. Your plans would be $200mill plus, for that you might as well build a 40k aami that would actually have an atmosphere most games.

Id disagree, but neither of us can say how much this would cost compared to, say, building Suncorp Stadium Mk.2. so arguing it wont progress much past here.

The basic question is im trying to get at is .... would this make ANZ a good stadium??

Because if the answer you come to is yes, then the biggest hurdle is political will; whether the ARLC could convince the NSW Gov. to make the stadium permanently rectangular or whether the ARLC would have to fund it themselves (and subsiquently, would that be worth it)...

Im not saying this IS the right answer, im saying this should be looked at as an option and validated or denied.

the NRL schedules day games in qld in the hotter months... i daresay you're putting too much faith in them

When will the upgrade to parramatta stadium start ?

when they next win a premiership

other issue just on the proposed liverpool stadium, is that clubs are paid to play at homebush, its guaranteed money. i can see clubs taking the guaranteed option rather than trying something new
