Double Dash was the worst release of the series.

But that doesn't stop the Wii version from being extremely average.

I'm prepared to be proven wrong :D
It will win either a few, a couple or a majority of GOTY's.

The prospect of a game better than Ocarina of time is just orgasmic, even with Slyrim to fill in the tine I still cannot wait for this game.

EDIT: Did I hear that IGN reviewer right when he said 40-50 hour story line? Jesus Christ, I want it now.

Better than Ocarina? Is that even possible?

Bloody wife has already claimed the gold controller. We'll see about that...

Just pre-order two copies, besides its always good to have a spare in case you wear the first one out by playing it to much.

Well, thought I'd Bump this topic to start the war on again, as I want to finally move on from my PS2/Cube era... ;-)
And I'm stumped on which to go for. Blu ray player doesn't interest me, both have an equal amount of exclusives for me I think...both look good and I have used both controllers and find them fine!
So-I was thinking 360 based soley on price, being the cheaper option (and the online thing isn't something I bother with). BUT- the big worry I have with the 360 is it's reputation as hardware which breaks down a lot and requires regular repair. If that's the case I'd spend the extra and get a more reliable machine.
Can 360 owners confirm whether that's true? Have gamers out there had their consoles for years and not had a problem? I like the cheaper price, and games around town for 360 seem to be better prices too (not new release ones I mean). But this reputation it has really worries me. Maybe that was early ones and that problem isn't around much now?
Likewise, the PS3. I like the DS controllers... and my main interest is to get the option that will be the more reliable hardware. The general feeling I get through this thread is PS3 is the better quality hardware in terms of reliability.

The newer models of 360 are much (much much) better quality, and should you buy one of them it will likely last you just as long as the New Model PS3 you will buy. But in saying that, if you want mega cheap price, you will be buying an older model Xbox and that may give out on you. So in terms of spending money, they're about even.

I own both a 360 and a PS3, and they are both great (though if i could only pick one i'd pick the PS3). The biggest difference for me is the on-line experience. While you pay for Xbox live (like 80 bucks a year i think), it's definitely worth it quality wise, connecting to games on the 360 is much easier for FIFA and Madden. For COD it's about the same as PS3, maybe slightly easier. Halo on Xbox is fun, but not the greatest thing in the world. Certainly not the 'reason' to pick Xbox over PS3. Also, Xbox's generally come with a free headset, whereas PS3's make you pay like $40 for them.

If you're just thinking about mucking around with some mates playing FIFA, i'd probably head to JB HIFI and other shops around your area, see what you can get the best deal on. And just go with that. If you're getting it to play online with mates, get whatever your friends have, as it's them you'll be playing with. If you have no friends, get an Xbox.

Thanks for that...a good impartial post to cover a lot of what I was worried about.
The early Xbox for me is out! I'd rather spend a couple of quid more and get a more reliable kit.
The PS3 vs 360 debates you pop online to check out generally give you a headache, and don't help make a decision at all! Usually filled with hardcore fanboys for one machine/company or the other, you end up more confused and certainly with misinformation in the extreme- with stories of Death lights and this machine can do what that machine can't and so on!
So when it comes down to it, unless you're a rabid fan of one set of exclusives over the other, you won't go wrong with either nowadays. Because I'm looking for a games machine soley, and not worried about Blu ray playing, I'm likely to go for a (Newer Slim) 360...based simply on the huge amount of games, and many more people have them. To me, this means you should be able to pick up more games cheaper- even in online auctions or second hand stores to build a wee collection quickly (like you tend to do early on with a new machine)- And the online set up, despite paying for it sounds a lot better.
Who knows, maybe some brillo exclusives I can't live without will come along and I'll get both later on!

Thanks.

Been shopping around online...the best loca deal seems to be Dick Smith atm, with a 360 slim +3 games 40-50 bucks cheaper than elsewhere. The cheapest PS3 to this deal is 60 bucks dearer with one platinum (or whatever the new gen budget range is called) game. Base units for both aren't much cheaper than those packages.
I guess a game deal isn't that important really, as you go and build your own library anyway...but I think I will still with 360+3 games I think. But I'll have fun this afternoon having a look before the League starts ;-)

The only reason I even touch my PS3 anymore is for all the great Japnese games that never get an English release, thankfully the PS3 is region free.

Had an enjoyable wander around a few stores...came out with a new 250g 360. I'm happy with the decision. It came with Fable 3, Halo Reach & Mass Effect 3, and a 3 month subscription for online...and they gave me an awesome deal on an extended warranty (covering it for 3 years). This was Dick Smith...then shot into EBs and had a look through the dump bins, getting GTA IV & Ridge Racer 6 (Not a huge fan of racers but like a quick arcade burst now n again, and at $5 thought what the hell!).

I'm stoked. I know a couple of others with 360s so will clash online there...

Ah, it's nice to finally join the current gen...just briefly before the new one comes out... ;-)
