PS3 vs XBOX 360

The PS3 is not only the better console but the better investment as it has a lot more potential for future years (atleast another 10 according to Sony) as developers are still only figuring out how best to utilise the BluRay disc for games where as Xbox is at its limit. There is literally nothing the Xbox has that is superior to the PS3 and for some reason Xbox fans think the exclusives are better? Wow, Halo. I play Halo all the time at my friends house and when you wait 10 minutes to find players and play a 10 minute game you wait another 10 minutes to find players again, and that's your premier game?

Free online gaming aswell, Xbox fans can keep their cross game chit chat and Xbox mii avatar and UFO controller while I watch MGS4.

There I fixed your post for you. I bought MGS4 and "played" it for 6 hours, and by played I mean I probably had 1 hour of gameplay and watched 5 hours of cutscenes. PS3 has some great games, MGS4 isn't one of them though IMO. I absolutely hated it, and I found the controls to be a bit cumbersome, it was a damn good looking game though.

Halo is hardly the pinnacle of xbox gaming either. I would say games like Mass Effect, Gears of War and Forza have well and truly knocked it off it's perch.

For good or bad, Im a huge Halo fan so I obviously prefer the XBox.

DC Online would be the only reason Id buy a PS3 but even that is stretching it a bit given that it is also coming out on PC

The PS controller has been sh*t ever since the PS1. The 1st "dinner plate" XBox controllers were crap too but since they went to the more compact design they have been well ahead imo.

It might be nostalgia for me. Especially if you haven't played the first three. I get where you're coming from though.

I've played all the MGS games, and I loved all of them except for 4. It's like watching a movie instead of playing a game. How long was the first cutscene again? I think it ran for 45 minutes or something ridiculous like that. It was filled with all the stereotypical and cliche japanese lunacy, which was to be expected. The game itself didn't play too well, third person shooters or stealth shooters have come a long way since the older MGS games, and I don't think 4 progressed with the times.

Uncharted 2 is the only game missing on Xbox that if I only had a 360, I would truly miss. In saying that, the Mass Effect series is by far the best game series I've ever played. It has the perfect balance between action and story.

Are you guys sure that the PS3 is actually backward compatible?

Only the original 60gig PS3 with the extra memory card components is backwards compatible. Thats the one I bought.

Every other model since then including the slim & 20, 80, 120+ gig types are not backwards compatible.

Agreed on MGS...The first was the best of the bunch imo...

On Uncharted. Don't you just hate it when you start playing a new game, get 2 1/2 hours into it, save, exit, then realise you signed in with a different PS3 user...fuuu

An interesting anomaly is that all PS3's are backwards compatible with PS1 games.

Hey mate, regarding your question about which console to buy - Xbox 360 or PS3 - as a proud owner of both I think I can somewhat fairly weigh up the pro's and con's of each compared to each other.
I'm going to keep this short as I am typing on my iPhone.

PS3
Better range and quality of exclusives
Better visual capabilities - if developers expend greater resources and development time on doing so
Better accessibility for music and videos - you can't transfer such files off a storage device with the 360
Free online - with the option of paying for more features
Controllers are all able to be charged
Blu-ray player

Xbox 360
Best range of exclusive and third party shooters, such as Halo, Gears of War, and the Xbox being Call of Duty's 'console of choice'
Better online - it's paid for but it's definitely easier to use, has more features and has far better connectivity
Tends to be better for multi platform games in terms of times exclusives and visuals, but visual difference is almost always minor and insignificant
Better interface and GUI
Better range of downloadable games
Optional install for most games to reduce loading times significantly

As far as debates go surrounding which controller is better, I prefer the Dualshock controller as it is lighter, more flexible and comfortable. However, I have been a Playstation nut since I was an infant, so obviously my opinion is based upon familiarity. You will have to test out both controllers for yourself to determine which you prefer.
I can't comment on the motion controllers as I only own Kinect, but from what I've seen most believe the Playstation Move is more precise but the Kinect has greater potential and a wider range of games specifically designed for Kinect.

Frankly, most of this talk is meaningless - it all comes down to which console you are most comfortable with, and which range of games you prefer.

PS3 by far, I'm not being biased at all, I originally owned an Xbox but it broke two times and I got a PS instead, the PS has way more games and features.

Before the Xbox got it's act together with the consolebreakdown, PS3 was superior. Since then Xbox is way better. My first 360 lasted 3 weeks, by 2nd one has lasted 3-4 years.

The PS3 is like you taking roids to look like a bodybuilder when your aim is to run marathons. 360s are built to do exactly what they're meant to. The PS3 is like a transexual. The 360 is a fine beautiful woman.

What is better about the Xbox compared to the PS3? PS3 has blu-ray, internet browser, free online, more exclusives, games don't need 4 dvd's, superiors hardware, has media server sharing, controller is bluetooth and rechargeable, comes with built in wi-fi, exterior design is better, doesn't break down all the time like an Xbox. I liked the Xbox controller more but that's it.

So what the f**k does the 360 have besides the ability to overheat and break down?

Different games, many of which I enjoy... talking about HDD sizes and internet browsers is largely irrelevant, when it comes down to it games are make or break. That said, Xbox has better controller and online, now that you asked.

Also, current xbox models come with Wifi, and havent had breakdown issues for years.

"exterior design is better" lol how irrelevant can you get.

That all said, I will be getting a Ps3 soon, because I want Uncharted and God of War.

The 360 have stopped attempting to release any exclusives at all, last one I can think of GOW3, that's it. Online is better how? I had Live for years and I don't see how it is better, and it is no way worth $80 a month.

As I have said, all it has is a better controller, nothing else. And I own both, so I'm not being biased.

The exclusives on both sides aren't that great but PS3 is slighty better. GOW and Halo are just straight up crap and InFamous is not that great either.

Cross game chat is overrated aswell and the best thing to happen to me was Dark Souls not allowing chat.

Let's be honest though the current gen consoles are both broken and shitty and we've been served up appropriately rushed and broken games. Current gen sucks balls.

I have both consoles now and like them equally. I love the PS3 for it's exclusive games, blu-ray and the media side to it. But I also love the 360 because of Xbox Live and I find the dashboard much more refreshing and easy to use compared to the PS3's, which looks a bit plain to me.
