So you essentially want a scripted outcome... WWE may be good for you mate.
I want as many close games as possible, with the result undecided until near the end. But done in a legit way (nice strawman WWE argument by the way). Creating new rules that widens what in RL is already a major gulf sometimes between the good and bad does no one any good, especially the game overall. We arent socccer where a poor team can hold a good team to a couple of goals, RL is unforgiving and punishing and to artifically widen this gap by some very significant new rules all implemented at once is just plain stupid.

How can you be right or wrong on suspicion...?

You really are a sanctimonious person aren't you?
How does me have a suspicion about the way the media will deal with the fans are now turning on Vlandys (as evidenced on here by the way) make me morally superior? Or are you not understanding what the word sanctamonious means?

So hang on a minute here... Are people genuinely wanting rules in place to allow a losing team to have a leg up to make it a closer game at the end...?

Teams need to get better, not change the rules AGAIN to give losing teams a way out of losing.

All teams are operating under the same rules, so to blame them for mediocre performances from shit teams is just silly.

Sort of. They want rules to slow down the try scoring...

Games will be like 30-0 instead of 40-0 type of thing

This is a good post but have you considered just assembling a grand final calibre team?

It's not hard just stop losing geez.

You honestly think if we had 2019 rules the ladder would change?

You will get closer games but teams like Dogs that can't score now will have even less chance under such rules.

The rules will changed some what but those garbage teams need to get better or it will just be same just 20 point wins instead of 30

In summary yes. If the rules are now magnifying the gap between the very good teams and the avg teams (lets not even worry about the 2-3 crap teams) then as an entertainment spectacle that gets most of its revenue from people watching the product on tv it is not a good thing. Even worse is we are about to negotiate a new fta tv deal, with the product being so poor at the moment it is hardly a bargaining position of strength. Too many changes all at once is the problem, if the 4 or 5 major changes made had been brought in over 4 or 5 years then teams would have slowly adapted and we might not have the scenario we have now. Rushing them all through at once has changed the entire fabric of the game.

I asked the question before but

Take Origin 1. QLD had a poor side due to injury mainly.

Say you bring new rules in they lose 30-6 instead of 50-6. Has the game improved though?

I guess it isnt about gettign rid of none close games between good teams and shite teams, they have always existed. But when you see Storm (who I have to say are by no means the best Storm side I have ever seen play) are hammering other top 4 teams, or a 5th place team is hammering a 9th placed team thats where the gap shouldnt be that great.

Perception is an interesting thing. 30-6 you say yeh big loss and move on. 50-6 is a drubbing that you kind of shrug your shoulders and ask how that can happen between two teams of the mostly the best players in the NRL? Theres something psychological about a team getting 40 or more onthem that takes it from a heavy loss to a massacre.

Arguing that the old rules were artifically giving bad teams a better shot of winning is like arguing that the new rules are artifically giving the best teams an even bigger leg-up, reducing the possibility of outcomes. Both are valid points, as rules enforce an artificial condition under any circumstance.

While the new rules promote more attacking football, it tends to be in one direction for sustained periods of time, and a greater proportion of it is inflicted on defensive lines softer than Dane Carlaw. Exciting for some, boring for most.

Cam Smith came out and said that the Storm turned their focus to attacking footy after the 2016 GF.
Penrith have built a side consisting of a core group of young juniors that know each other well and have played together for a number of years.
The Bunnies have assembled an attack orientated side by adding Latrell Mitchell to Cody Walker, Alex Johnston, Dane Gagai et al.
Mitch Moses and Parra a down hill skiers who absolutely thrive on momentum.
Tommy Turbo is an absolute freak in attack.

These sides didn’t ‘adapt best’ to the rule changes. The rule changes suited these sides the most.

It’s a shame that ‘the grind’ has gone from games, but if that’s the direction the game is going, teams will have to change.
There will be less blow outs when lesser sides actually have a chance to adapt to the rules and the rules don’t get changed again midway through teams rebuilding.

So do you believe we should remove the salary cap?

Is that not an artificial restraint placed on the good clubs who can effectively manage their business ? Seems a bit wwe to not let the roosters and the broncos not just buy competitions if they are able to
Wow... anyone looking for a perfect example of a strawman argument... there it is.

Thats not what he said, and certainly wasnt the context! He started off by intimating that Vlandys gets the blame for everything then went on to put a target on Wayne Pearce. Whosew to say Pearce wasnt massively opposed, whose ot say Vlandys and his puppet Abdo even asked him?
I suspect now the tide is turning against VLandys his media mates will start to try and deflect to the other commisioners the blame for the screw up the game has become, first shots fired towards Wayne by Sloth.
Its funny that despite it being a committee that got the game back up after covid Vlandys got all the praise as the man that saved RL, now the sht is hitting the fan for them stuffing the game up it must be the committees fault not his lol.
You wished Greenberg dead for years then cried when he got sacked. No credibility at all.

I dont deal in absolutes, only dumb people do. Todd had many flaws, he also had some signifcant successes. Vlandys and Abdo the same. My beef with Greenbergs departure was not his going, it was once again the NRL allowing the media to dictate who runs the game. f**k Ch9, its sht coverage, and the fact it can get the games CEO removed.

I know what a strawman argument is. I disagree that it's a strawman argument.

I'm simply following your argument through to it's logical conclusion. The nrl already has a measure in place that somewhat evens the playing field and just stops top clubs out spending smaller clubs.

So saying that other teams need to adapt to rules better, means I think the salary cap should be abolished...? Yeah, strawman.

You're being a dick to be a dick. So f**k off champ :)
