Well why don't you move to Brissie or Sydney?

You would get a good price for your joint.

Maybe you could do us all a favour and go back to the land of the soapdodger and freeze your nuts off.

Sydney too expensive, traffic is shthouse, weather in Brisbane is too humid and city is too far away from decent beaches. Perth is just an awesome place to live if you love the outdoors. I live a road back from the beach less than 22kms from CBD in a decent 4x2 on 700sqm for $800k. Sydney I couldn't get a shoebox for that!
I'll be back in the lake district when I retire (for English summers anyway :) )
Be nice to have a NRL club to go to every other week but there's a lot more to life than that, I would never have left my beloved club if there wasn't.

Redlands would be a good fit for you. It is not that far from Brisbane, lots of parks and farmland, plenty of beaches and a large English community. Its population tends to be older and more relaxed. If you lived in Logan you would be close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Air conditioning beats the humidity.

Andrew Demetriou basically destroyed the AFL by expanding into non-AFL states.

They've wasted 10s of millions of dollars on soulless franchises whose presence has in turn also terminally diluted the quality of the competition.

The effects of their aggressive expansion - driven by huge egos - has sent the AFL into a path of decline. It's been delicious to watch.

Perhaps V'landys has taken heed of this lesson. Hence the decision to consolidate a Rugba League heartland in Brisbane instead.

It's smart. V'landys is no fool. All hail Peter the Great.

It's along these lines that I would also favourably regard a CC Bears bid:

a) It's a low-risk investment that would cover both a regional area with a big junior league base (only behind Newcastle, Parra and Penrith IIRC?)
b) Also caters to the rich north shore for financial backing
c) CC + north shore combined have a population of 1 million AND:
d) You have a brand with 100+ years history in the Bears.

I concur with that view, see the benefit of 10 games at Gosford and 2 at North Sydney oval. The 2 NSO games would get all the hipsters out and be event games. PVL is going on about tribal, bringing back the Bears would support that view. They will revisit expansion on the next cycle and Bears could present another safe bet, bit like Brisbane 2 now.

Would certainly tie up the eastern border which will have 52% of Australia's population by 2050. (Not including Victoria)

Cheaper to buy a house in a huge mine with some farming on a river, than the financial and tertiary powerhouse on a harbour.

Who would guess.

there is certainly an argument for it. Play a game each year at north Sydney oval. Call them Northern Bears. I think people would travel from the northern suburbs of Sydney to Gosford on the train.

V'Landys has weighed and considered, and to use the Mr Um and Agh comment, "you fish where the fish are".Brisbane.
That's where the TV ratings are ,the revenue producers.
The AFL love it ATM with the NRL only in Brisbane every 2nd week. You think they want a 2nd Brisbane NRL side to have to compete against?

Perth ATM doesn't guarantee ratings, will cost a hell of a lot more to establish ,and airfares are so damn expensive, such that costs could well exceed revenue.Something the much maligned ,traditional suburban NRL clubs with tribal fan bases, don't have hanging around their necks.

Facts of life"Reality is what is in front of you." "It's good to dream, but most dreams never eventuate."

Its ootion if Vladys wants to saturate the Brisbane and Sydney markets. Unless they go for Brisbane 3

The difference between a vision and a dream is action.

The thing with areas like Perth is the junior pathways and 2nd tier footy. That is the advantage of Brisbane 2

Yeah, it's probably one reason the WARL has really developed the junior system, and they have had teams in the Harold Matts and SG Ball Competitions.

It also had a very supportive government, which would have been extremely helpful in continue to develop these.

The fact is PVL is playing a 'safe' expansion option. There isn't as much risk, but the reward isn't that great either. It's a simple win.

Coming out of COVID, maybe it is the time to do this option. However, I think the complete dismissal of a Perth bid is completely ill-thought out.

Yep he actually said we should have another Brisbane team so SOO doesn't die. WTF? So much stuff he put out without any of the panel challenging him on it. Oh for some decent journalists.

Why didn't they just ask Gus the questions....isn't that where V'landys gets his direction.

Gus and News/Nine.

The 3 QLD teams are performing badly on the field but that should not have any effect on whether another QLD team should be admitted. By that logic we should have put a 2nd team in Melbourne by now cause the Storm are so strong. I can sort of see the origin argument, outside of spine positions QLD seriously lack depth at the moment. There is a thread in the origin forum and NSW have almost 20 centres better than QLD, that's a little concerning. But yeah the anti-Perth sentiment is stupid. Wonder if its got something to do with AFL's expansion costing them so much money.

NSW has always had more depth then Qld since origin began.

Funny you mention the SG Ball team. What happens to those guys once they turn 19? I think Perth should have a team but 2nd tier and Pathway questions still exist.

A Bye is fine for a few seasons but eventually an 18th team will come in. Plenty of time to sort out like Warriors did and find a 2nd tier team

What 21 year old will move across the country by themselves. Throw in an injury or 2 and the mental space

Didnt have a problem recruiting in 1994 when the world was a much bigger place! If you want an NRL contract, or want to be that $million player you will move, been proven in other sports.

They are either getting signed up to Qland cup or NSW cup teams or going back to the NRLWA league. We were planning to have a State cup team by next year but that has all gone very quiet. Would be a waste of money unless there is a definite plan for an NRL club in next 5 years.
