Offering an untested coach a 5+1 year contract, then after 1.5 year deciding they dont want him anymore seems pretty incompetent business wouldn't you suggest? Any club that signs a coach for more than 2+1 is taking a huge risk that could cost them millions.
For someone who seems to think he's smarter than most, surely you'd be able to apply for one of these jobs you consistently shit on? Given that you know all and believe you'd make better decisions than pretty much everyone else in those positions, you'd be a shoe in for sure.

Go for it PR

Untested? Coach of the year when he went there.

Roster balance is the clubs problems. This doesn't change that

This worries me to be honest. The clubs (and Gould) are the ones that bitch about waste of money at NRL admin level and the things they would consider a waste of money would be long term vision type stuff like the Digital and expansion etc.
The clubs want all the money to go to them even though they know they have wasted it all and they can't run their clubs in a professional way. They spend it all on short term win at all costs type stuff like additional coaching staff etc.
The game was a better spectacle when clubs had a coach and some one to run the sponge and water onto the field. Players were footballers who played what was in front of them. Now they're coached to the point they don't know anything but second man plays and a run around.

That's a load of crap and you should know it ,by ignoring the facts. It was Vlandys & his Apollo team who kept in touch with the State Govts of Qld/NSW and Vic and indeed NZ Govt to first of all and their medical bodies to ensure the protocols that were being set up by the NRL were the strictest around to ensure safe movement of teams around NSW and Qld,and for the Warriors to come to Oz, and for the Storm to go to the Sunshine Coast.
All this rubbish about V'Landys being arrogant was pushed by the sensation seeking media, when in fact close contact was being made with Govts.
As a result the NRL was first up on 28th May as promised and delivered and your mob the AFL took another two weeks to start, despite some of their people bagging the NRL for being early.
The state Premiers have admitted the NRL have worked in with them to ensure safe guidelines are met.It is the idiot players who have been the problem, by breaking protocols.
This at the same time he negotiated at lower revenue deals with the ch9 and Foxtel for the 20/22 seasons ,and extensions with Foxtel for the 2023-2027seasons at better than market expectations.
This at the same time organised a Line of Credit not used finally for $250m.
This at the same time V'Landys accepted the NSW Govt decision to not redo ANZ stadium, but is pushing for suburban stadium improvements..
This at the same time when Covid is over, that V'Landys openly stated on 100% Football they will be looking at Brisbane 2.
They spent money to expand in GWS and GC with large sums, and part of the problem by doing so this has assisted the AFL in looking to get a $400m loss this season.
You think this expansion is going to thrill the 20% of AFL staff that will be cut this year?

Here's an idea,do some research from far away, instead of using your blind hatred of VLandys control your thinking.

Further, if the AFL Mangement was so good, whilst they were fumbling around talking about "hubs" and having players throw hissy fits, PVL got the NRL management into gear and worked out a plan to re-start its game. In fact it did such a good job that in the end the supposedly "superior" AFL management copied it and used it as its own blue print on how to get AL re-started.

News ltd puppet who Taipan is in love with in a man crush kind of way lol
Its no surprise he has unilaterally quickly signed up an extension with News Ltd at our time of greatest weakness. No open tender, no competitive tension, no contract negotiating team. Hmmm.
& you've been asked many times yet you can't answer( due to the fact it will highlight how much your Vlad hate makes you post utter rot)..
Which media companies were competing .

Who knows, I guess if you don't put it out there you wont know. Its called tendering.
Vlad wanted money in the bank, I get that in times of crisis so signed us up to 7 years. Why the rush? Maybe Fox offered such an amazing deal that he couldnt say no? Or maybe not.
Now Ive said many times, and for the hard of hearing, once we actually know what he has signed us up to we will know if he is a genius or just the latest in a very long line of sht RL administrators that have sold the game short. His coyness at the amount, the first time NRL hasn't been happy to share the TV deal details, should make everyone nervous.

Charlie Abdo is an uninspiring appointment as CEO. They would have given him the job because he was willing to do it for peanuts. That's how you get crappy talent and bad outcomes for the game.

Seeing he achieved a big increase in non broadcast revenue for the NRL, and was involved with V'Landys in the Foxtel new deal 2023-27 and getting the code up and running on May 28th,I don't care if he lacks charisma as long as he gets of his bot and achieves. If he was on peanuts ,he wouldn't have wanted the job IMO.

Whilst that seemed great at the time, what did starting first actually achieve besides one week of good ratings?

... or you get Todd Greenburg, have him set his own bonuses and spend $500K a day running the show.

We've had crappy outcomes for the game previously.

As long as Abdo takes a razor to the joint, he will do a good job.

Q on Vlandy... What about this ...Cricket Australia

Can't get their season started...NrL, one of the first professional league to get going world wide.
Chanel 7 threatening to walk away ( This could have happened to NRL...)
It is the national game and if they are having trouble with their media partners How come the NRL are in a reasonable financial shape.

Quote below from SMH story on Cricket Australia and leadership. Notice the absence of G.Mclachlan

“People are having pot shots at cricket but I don’t think we, and I say we as in cricket, are letting people know all of the successes that are taking place,” said Neil Maxwell, a board member of Cricket NSW and the Australian Cricketers’ Association who has managed the careers of Brett Lee, Mike Hussey, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood and run an Indian Premier League franchise.

“There is so much good happening but unfortunately there is this void. My frustration is cricket not talking itself up.”

CA has been missing a forthright administrator like Peter V’landys, the Australian Rugby League Commission chairman, publicly championing its cause and has effectively been on the back foot this year since Roberts warned in April the sport was in danger of running out of money. " End of quote'''

imdont mind internal aPpointments, at least he’ll know the ins and outs and politics at play. I don’t think he will have any say in how the org runs anyway with Vlandys dictating everything but hopefully one day he gets to show us what he’s got and can survive the Ch9 tv negotiations.

In fact Abdo has been given a huge wrap by none other than David Smith, who worked in the same accounting organisation.States he is calm, considered ,hard working and dedicated to whatever he does.He helped steer the code through the current COVID crap with of course others, and his work was noticed by all the Commissioners over 5-6 months.
On that basis he has served an apprenticeship. He will be judged on cost cutting, club financial stability, grassroots and expansion to Brisbane and getting a decent FTA deal.

Seems PVL is very keen on RG and U23s

Have to see where that goes

Be interesting to see how he saved $80 mil

Killing Tier 2 and U20s, U18s and U16s comps and 2nd referees, closing the NRL Museum, closing Big League, sacking a layer of mangement

This will be an issue in 2021
