Interesting in the Singleton interview on Matty johns podcast tonight said Souths were all but signed and sealed to relocate to gosford until Crowe came along and saved them.
Also having certian players lined up to line up for 1st grade side, and bennet (possibly, as he mentioned) if things went his way, i feel it was a bit of a missed opportunity, but having souths where they are also did the league a favor, only a shame that prior to that the bears never had a chance to go to blue gum, as well as later on with re expansion back to gold coast

I wonder when we look back though history if he actually saved them or just delayed the inevitable relocation to somewhere like Gosford...

That could be said for a few clubs though...

Did the Penns investment really help Manly in the long run or is it a relocation timebomb waiting to happen?

How long does the Crowe factor keep the bunnies in South Sydney?

Has Unlce Nick done enough to secure the Roosters' place in the Sydney CBD?

Rams averaged 15,330 in 97, their highest attended game got 27,435.

Before you say it, yeah their numbers tanked in 98, but everybody's numbers tanked in 98, it's just the nature of the times. But on top of that it isn't surprising at all in their case given that everybody and their dog knew that they were going to be sacrificed for a Sydney club's survival. It's very hard to get people to buy into supporting your team when they know that your team almost certainly isn't going to be around a year later.

On top of that this years Easts vs Melbourne game got 16,297, and next years SOO will almost certainly sellout.

So for a place where there's supposedly no market, Adelaide moves quite a few tickets. . . A lot of clubs would be very envious of their numbers, especially if you are comparing the numbers from 97.

Very easy to get numbers to one off games. Have a look at RL history and there is always a big roll up followed by a drop.

How financially stable are the west tigers??

The ideal merger would have been between the western suburbs and Canterbury bulldogs to form the western bulldogs playing out of a revamped Campbeltown stadium fulltime.

They had discussions but Canterbury wanted a takeover.

Agree geographically that would of made more sense, that particular name was taken a few years earlier than the merge though

The NRL need to replicate what’s happened with Parrmatta in Campbelltown. A permanent franchise based in and playing out of Campbelltown with an upgraded stadium.
