What ticks me off, is the Storm lay In tackles, twist the player to prevent a quick play the ball, lay down at every opportunity and generally bend the rules to the limit

The refs panic when the opposition starts to do that after say the first 5/10 minutes seeing the refs have let it go, and a flow of penalties go to the scum as they are in possession when the pelicans start to worry about too many offences around the ruck

Bellyache is a master at it, would probably have lost but it would have been a different game, we were back in it when Sandow lost it and they panicked again and made sure the Scum went on with it

One of the really awful displays from the officials we have seen

He didn't say much about the refs. Just said they need to improve, just like us.

He made some good points about nothing really going our way and from the outset of the game everything was going Melbourne's way. But Melbourne were there contributing towards things going their way, whilst Parra were there contributing things going against them.

Melbourne were that far ahead of us today in every facet of play and although the Sandow sin binning contributed to Melbourne putting on a few more tries, a 26 point margin was probably a fair indication of the game, with or without the refs input.

Melbourne were very good on the day and we were not very good

Tallis was on radio a few weeks back.He was saying he was in the Melbourne dressing room, and they said don't say it while he around.Than they where laughing about dirty tricks they use in the game to win.
He also went on to say he believes they lift players in air just as a tactic too slow them down and put them down softly.
Melbourne struggld at the start of year with rule changes in tackles. No third man in unless dominant. Now that rules has been thrown out the window for some reason

My thoughts -

There is a huge gap between our best and our worst. We need to close that gap
It was clear 5 minutes in that we weren't quite there.
Slowest play the balls I have ever seen by us.
Both NQ and Storm have killed us with little kicks behind the line. We are poor in that area.
We just seem to consistently cop a hiding every 4 or 5 weeks.
We seem incapable of getting repeat sets.
Norman is getting better every week.
Refs are stupid!

Norman is definitely finding his groove. His composure in the execution of his options is much better.

The ball for Semi was sublime.

That was never a rule. The rule was/is the 3rd man can not come in below the knee.

My Take

1-We need a captain, someone to settle the players down.

2- Pauli Pauli needs to be used smarter. He is our x-factor.Dont get him taking hit ups on the first or second 10mtrs out.

3- We need a defensive lock.

4- Morgan will take Tonga's spot soon

5- We try and play razzle dazzle too early in the game

Defensive locks are massively over rated.

Our men around the ruck need to make their tackles whether they are a so called defensive specialist or not.

Refs are stupid!

The slow play the ball was a direct result of the non-call by the referees. Not much we could have done about it as every time we tried to play the ball quickly we were called for a knock on. The Storm attempted the same thing and the result was a penalty.

Frustration was a direct result of the referees to not call the game the same for the both sides.

I know as a team we need to work above that however if the NRL cannot find referees that can do the job on a regular, consistent and unbiased basis than we will continue to struggle on the road.

And it's not just us. The rulings on the Sharks game last night for two disallowed tries showed similar bias. Cowboys struggle away from home as well and that can be influenced by the Lack of consistency by the referees too. I used to watch every game I could on a weekend. Due to the standard of refereeing I can't watch more than our own at times.

We did not perform under pressure but neither did Cummins.

TIme to get rid of sef. He rucks it up probably 1m, he grabs at tackles and was not worth having him there. Gower came on and basically did what Sef does.

I dont get how we use Kelepi. He has big wraps on him but every game he has played this year, it is with limited time.

Pauli Pauli cannot start.

We did well previously with quick runs on the dummy half. that has gone.

Norman was great in defense.

Ohok. How come the game was so much faster and people where saying some teams will struggle. What rule made it like this?

Because in order to prevent the third man coming in at the knees the refs were instructed to call held earlier particularly when the attacking player was standing in the tackle. It was a safety issue that led to a slightly quicker play the ball

Spot on Colonel i agree 100%

The refereeing wasn't even close to being even.

I don't know if I'd call the refereeing biased - that is suggesting a form of dishonesty.
I would say however, it was extraordinarily inept and inconsistent. We were penalised early in the game for holding the tackled player down, yet we did far worse ones as the match went on that went un-penalised. The Storm were much worse than us generally in this department.
What pissed me off just as much or even more was the line speed by the Storm defenders when we were attacking their line. They were all constantly off-side and getting in our faces forcing errors, yet it took till the 53rd minute for the refs to award a penalty for it.

It's the inconsistency that pisses me off.

At least Arthur said something about it in the presser

Yes we were bad and deserved what we got but seriously, the refereeing was abysmal and clearly favoured one side
