Yeah, Isako went all kamikaze there, but the onus is on the defence to account for that?

Might as well just make it illegal to contest the ball.

Isaako was the one jumping.

I'd say the bloke flying through underneath him was the one who went a bit kamikaze...

It is against the rules, though. You've never been allowed to take the legs of an airborne player contesting a kick in the NRL, accidental or otherwise.

Much like an accidental high tackle is still against the rules.
I don't think it is. It was a collision, not a tackle.

The amazingly obvious difference with an accidental high tackle is that you are actually trying to tackle him

This was a guy going for the ball with zero intent to do anything to the other player

Barely brushed him imo. And I don't think it matters anyway. Accidents happen. They aren't penalties but are often given. This one was just spectacular.
Come on mate, he clearly made considerable contact.
It was 100% an accident otherwise he would be on report.
Tough one for the Sharks but it’s the way it goes unfortunately.

You still have obligations in a contest for the ball.

Look, how much contact was made is irrelevant imo. Both players have equal rights to contest the ball. No one was trying to tackle anyone. It was just an accident and I don't believe it's a penalty under the rules. But I certainly can't be arsed poring over the rulebook to find out for sure. :)

I think it is under the rules, but I’m not 100% either.
Due to it being a pure accident, I would be ok with something like that being let go and called a what it is, an accident. But like I said, I think it’s under the rules.
Let’s jut hope one of our boys don’t do it.

Of course not, but he wasn't exactly contesting the jump so there is an onus on him to avoid the players legs when he is in the air, same as there has been for ages.
He was contesting it. He practically touched it. Would have had a good shot at catching it had issako not got in the way

The other issue is, last I checked, the rulebooks available online are all different and all way simplified versions....
