Rd26 Eels v Dragons GAME DAY THREAD @ Commbank Stadium Aug 31st

Can someone explain how this result impacts spoon bowl?
It doesn't. We'll now both be on 18 points going into the final round.

If we'd lost today, we'd be two points behind them, but with better for an against. Either way, an Eels win next week was always needed to avoid the spoon, regardless of today's result.

Good to win.

We got a great look at the future in that last 10 minutes if we want to move Gutho on though.

We let five tries in at the end once Gutho went off. This has been an issue for years, we just fall in a heap when he's not on the field. It's difficult to comprehend that the other players don't know how to defend if he's not there.

Again, it appears just another result of reliance on the sum of the brilliance of the individual, with inadequate structures and team systems in place.

Hopefully a change of coach will fix that, otherwise they're kidding themselves, and If Gutho isn’t at the club next year we'll fall in a heap.

Our defence is bad enough but when Gutho goes off its downright disgraceful.

He missed 120 mins last year and we conceded 12 tries.

Not sure what the stat is this year but after he went off the last 10 mins today we let in 5 tries.

Ryles has to get these blokes physically fit for starters.

The fade outs have been dreadful.

Whatever S&C did the in the off season wasn't good enough.
