Rd8: 8pm EELS v Broncos GAME DAY THREAD @ TIO Stadium - Darwin 21/4/23

Hodgson has missed 35 tackles in 426 minutes of football, which is a missed tackle every 12 minutes or thereabouts. Hands has missed 3 in 141 minutes, so one every 47 minutes.
So putting that together, if we go with 80mins of Hands, at that rate he'd miss 1 tackle in a whole match (maybe 2 in every second match).

But if we go with 24mins of Hodgson in any match, at that rate he'd miss 2 tackles in that small amount of time.

It's a no brainer, and we can't afford more than 20mins of Hodgson - which is when BA should have taken him off tonight, before the 2nd and 3rd Broncos try through the middle.

How many Hodgson misses has lead to tries or how many times has Hodgson been unable to get near marker and let a yawning gap around the ruck??? He's been an absolute disaster defensively.

That’s the real issue, anyway. The stats paint the picture, but it’s the fact that so many of his misses are just opening the entire middle up that’s most problematic.

It’s sad, because I was (very) cautiously optimistic that he’d be an asset this year. But he’s just evidently not physically capable of playing first grade rugby league anymore.

Hodgson attempted arm grab on Mann. Was the worst attempted tackle I had ever seen. The clown that we call a coach that keeps selecting has lost the plot. What an absolute disgrace of a performance from Hodgson.
I actually reckon that will be it for him in first grade, at least for a little while. That he didn’t get back on the pitch after half an hour is telling. I reckon Arthur will bite the bullet and f**k him off to twos.

Hands isn't ready for 80 mins every week so what is the solution.

The solution is no longer Hodgson.

Could Rein hold it up 25-30 and then leave it for hands to take the rest.

I am not sure. But after tonight and what I saw last week Hodgson is now a major liability and doesn't offer enough the other way to justify selection.

I think BA knows it as well but i am not sure if he is brave enough to push hodgo off the cliff. He has half done it tonight by not bringing him back on and hands getting more mins as the weeks go by.

Rein or Arthur. Either is an improvement on Hodgson at this stage.

We’ve (reasonably) mainly criticised his defence, but both his service and decision-making was f**ked tonight too. Absolutely no redeeming qualities to that performance tonight.

60-65 or so mins to Hands and the rest to Hodgson coming off the bench I’d imagine. Not that he deserves it after tonight.

As much as I regret saying it, I’d go Arthur as he can cover multiple positions giving us some flexibility. He can handle 10 minutes either side of half time in the middle.

Agree. If BA also agrees, then the first step next week is to do what he did against Bulldogs - name Hodgson (to save speculation/his embarrassment) but play Hands from the start.

Jake is always the 18th man it seems, so through him on the bench to do his 2022 10-15min stint - which gives Hands a break before and after halftime. Not a long term solution, but Jake can still likely do this and manage 60mins at halfback in NSW Cup most weeks, doing what Daddy said he'd do this season (playing decent minutes while learning how to run a team).

Would rather give the 15 mins to Jake. His defence is OK front on.

It's when he has to make decisions it's iffy. But give Jake the first 15-20 and let Hands deal with the last 60.

Tonight was a bit of reality check for hands but he is the future let's pump 20 games into him playing 60-65 mins this year and reap the benefits next year.

What a shock, Poubot with his tongue up the coaches arse again. You also used to rim SK right to the bitter end. Admit it you aren't even an Eels fan just a sad troll with way too much time on your hands. At least that would be sort of commendable.
Pou has had tough night his Freo dockers got walloped in the ping pong.

Parra are the least of his dramas.

Take out last year when Reynolds got KO after 5 mins in the 50 point flogging but has Moses beat Reynolds in a 80 mon contest since he joined Parra

Seeing as souths have been flogging us for 6 years.

Reynolds gave moses another bath tonight when it comes to control and kicking smarts.

Moses has two kicks the up and under or the grubber when near the try line.

There is not enough variety in his kicking game especially as we don't have the players to execute a good kick chase.

Arthur is our backup half, and unless he’s getting 80mins a week in Reggie’s, when we truly need him he’s off the pace and flapping around doing jack all.

he’s never going to improve as half getting 15-20mins at Hooker in first grade

Why does anyone engage with the the troll

Q/ did Hodgson return after being subbed in the first half ? I can recall seeing him
Back on ?

maybe just maybe the coach has run out of patience …

To beat his weak troll shit back into submission - looks like mission accomplished tonight.

No, Hodgson played the first 31mins (for a grand total and match lowest 6 NRL fantasy points, for what it's worth).
