ok ... please name the other countries where RL is a professional sport ...

France, Wales

plus there are professional players from a whole range of countries playing in SL and NRL. Nobodys saying RL has an international scence to rival RU, soccer or cricket but to say that RL isn't played in other countries (if they are paid or play it for the love of the game is irrelevant) is just ignorant in the extreme. Bit like Wilson suggesting RL isn't played in WA any more.

The WC will be great if WE the fans support it. If it fails it will be down to RL fans in this country, nobody else. Me I am going to Melbourne and Brisbane to see games, can't wait!

3 countries play this game

You mentioned nothing about professionalism. I wouldn't of objected to your post as strongly if you had of added that.

I'll give you a tip though, the amount of countries that have professional competitions isn't 3.

Les Catalans are a full time team, the French top league are semi pro with some full timers.

The Celtic Crusaders have 12 full time players, the rest are semi pro

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance - Confucious!

yes it is

and of course it has to be professional otherwise you're as stupid as the AFL nongs who quote China & South Africa in their blurbs of globality (if that's a word ... if it's not it should be)

While contracts are very small by Australian standards, the PNG comp has been pro for three years.

Les Catalans are 1 team made up of has been Aussies & Kiwis who play in another country's competition ... not their own country .

ditto for Celtic Crusaders who play in the English 2nd tier comp .

Confucious says ... "don't quote me if you know f@#$ all" ;-)

For someone who claims to be a RL fan, you are putting in one hell of an effort to denigrate the international scene.

reality is harsh

and it aint much of an effort .... more so for you guys because you're clutching at straws .

RL has it's place and whilst Channel Nein & Fox care for it it'll survive ... if they change their minds then things might not be so rosey .

I'm clutching at straws, via what exactly ?Lets compare the state of international afl to league, then compare the state of domestic union or even aleague to that of league.

I have no doubts that league will be fine. What will the Hyundai aleague be called in 10 years time, when the crowds realise the standard of australian soccer is not what was promised ?

A country with a domestic competition is a country that plays the game.

And, again, the amount of countries that have professional competitions is not 3. Go ahead, do some research. You can even use wikipedia if you like.
