Woke up at 1 o'clock in the morning and thought I'd share my latest nonsense with the world even though it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that no one gives a flying f**k about popeye's ramblings.
The under 20 origin match was interesting. Watching those nubile young lads running around reminded me of the times me ole mate Popeye used to take the yabbie mobile up to Port Maquarie and try and sell his turnips to the local scout group.
What the game lacked was Queenslanders masquerading as Victorians. If it had that Popeye would have been in heaven and shagging his rolled up Storm Doona rather than ringing me up all night crying. Strong refereeing would be handy too, the league should look to hiring The Big Show, Arnie and Dean Lukin as their whistle blowers.

I'm interested in what popeye has to say even if you have to sift through some crap sometimes to work out what that is, but I believe the invitation was to have a go if you disagreed with his pov...haven't as yet really so have had nothing to say....but you are getting a bit ridiculous now so couldn't help jumping in. Anyone's opinions are fair game but jeez, ramp up the retorts a bit, its getting boring

I don't mind your dribble but I take offence at using too easy. You can't just can't pull too easy off the shelf,
you have to earn it. You of all people should know how it works. You've got to make me jump up and down
like I was refused an ice cream. Make me bite at anything like a carp. Make me call a friend when the going
gets too tough. Make smoke come from my ears. And the coup de grace, make me swear in uncontrollable bursts.

Too easy is a victory salute . . . not ammunition for a slingshot.

All Australia and Queensland need do now is let Cronk run the team as he does Melbourne. Smith is the
perfect captain courageous, mild mannered and level headed, always the steadying influence.

Thurston is the player Benji wants to be. Always ready to do the unexpected but get it right. Get him close
enough to the line and let him work his magic.

Cronk is the direction . . . better than anyone in the game. Makes sure the ball is where it needs to be.
Once all the other members of the team learn that he is the maestro the concert will go ahead perfectly in tune

Haha...that's actually not bad. You're better when you don't try to match Popeye's storytelling & use a bit of your own wit. Next step I guess is actually having a go at what he's really saying if you honestly don't agree.

Need to watch it again too (and for similar reasons) to say who went well etc. But first impression about the whole concept is that it's a good sequel to the U20s comp. Played for different reasons & played differently, hence the hard fought game & lower score. Not every player can play origin-type footy.

The good thing is that the players will change on a regular basis so one state shouldn't dominate for years as it does in NRL SOO. I presume origin-type players will be identified earlier & tagged for future development.

Personally, I can't wait until us kiwis have at least another club in the NRL but there's no reason why they can't have a similar SOO series now, U20s & NRL level...AK vs the rest as has been discussed elsewhere would work

Once the Warriors are deemed to be too strong to be categorised as a team just to make up the numbers
the knives will be out. Then you may get your wish. The Toyota Cup will go a long way towards spreading
the gospel. You need the Warriors to get in everyone's faces around cup day.

I'm not sure of demographics in NZ but in the case of Australian SOO a readymade tongue in cheek animosity has existed since the invent of repeating rifles.

It's all about opportunity. DCE for instance appeared in the NRL and immediately came under the guidance
of a competent coach. Slater, Smith, Cronk, Inglis, Lockyer, Fittler, and so on were all afforded that opportunity.
Pearce on the other hand was not. Some players play in positions where they'll make it regardless but players
like Pearce need a Bellamy, Griffin, Bennett or Hasler.

Sandow is like a bitch who has been let have a litter too young. Given too much responsibility too quickly. Bit
long winded I know but I don't agree DCE is a dud. I think he was born to play League and will get better
provided he is guided properly. In the same way that a lot of could-be-brilliant players will miss out for all
sorts of reasons DCE was in the right place at the right time.
