Reece Robson Leaving

Someone believes the hyperbole many media espouse regarding McInnes. Remember though, not too long ago, Mitch Rein was also considered a SOO possibility.
It's funny though that Rein is now playing out of his skin on the GC under another coach.
We need to take a long hard look in the mirror before we make assessments on players that don't perform to their potential.

Boom prop Thomas Flegler will make his NRL debut against the Storm next week in what promises to be a baptism of fire for the 19-year-old Brisbane rookie.

Its, funny how Anthony Siebold who basically is a rookie coach, has no issue in throwing a rookie into the top squad to make he's debut, yet it takes Mary a lifetime to play a rookie and give them a chance, generally 3-7 minutes...

Recruitment/retention/pathways all MIllward's responsibility. E.g. remember when Millward did not want to extend Dugan and Mary did, yes Dugan was not extended.

The excuse given by SGI management for the role of recruitment/ retention/pathways to be separated outside of the control of the head coach was to provide stability over the long term and to ensure the coach did not have final say on the makeup of the the player squad.

Millward is to provide Mary with a squad to coach. Retaining Robson is Millward's responsibility no matter what Mary thinks about McInnes.
Millward provides the players in consultation with Mary I am sure. The point is Millward can't necessarily retain Robson if Mary doesn't give him a chance in first grade. Mary picks the team. Robson may well seek to further his career elsewhere if Mary doesn't play him decent minutes in the top team. Nothing much Millward can do about that.

On topic, if this were to happen (the loss of Robson) it’s got little-to-nothing to do with McInnes. It’s far more to do with the impending abomination of a selection that is Matt Dufty on the bench.

I think this is spot on.

Its obvious Matt has been given some assurances, from all the fallout re the FB position. He will be on the bench I think. From there, @BennyV 's point makes complete sense as Robson will see little or no 1st grade barring injury.

On that basis I don't begrudge Robson looking elsewhere. I stand by my opinion that Dufty is a waste of a bench player.

I have a titans supporter friends who eerily say the same thing we all used to when he plays.

For every half good thing he does, he kills a potential scoring opportunity by holding the ball, inaccurate passing or passing at the wrong time

Yeap ridiculous isn't it ? . We must be the only team that will carry a specialist fullback on the bench , Then shuffle the entire spine to get him game time .

We could simply use our two hookers in a rotation that would be a real weapon . Use the tackling machine for the first 20 or 25 mins then give him a rest and use Robson's superior attacking skills against tiring forwards .

Robson has stated he doesn't want to leave so simply give him another 2 years then work out next season who we need to move on to comply with the cap.

With a bit of man management / good coaching we could actual have the best hooker rotation in the competition for the next few years .

I reckon Silverman shows more promise
Absolutely no doubt about it. Best outside back prospect in the last 20 years out of the Dragons and made for it. My only reservation with Silverman is I've heard he has an ego and can be all about himself at times.

Well Mary has come out publicly and said that McInnes is NSW's best hooker . I have no doubt that if Mary is extended McInnes will replace Widdop as captain next year .

As for this year we all know Dufty will start on the bench and Hunt will move to Hooker when he comes on . Even if McInnes is injured Hunt will go to Hooker with Dufty starting . Mary likes to carry a back on the bench so more than likely Field would be on the bench ahead of Robson in that scenario .

I don't know if the current rumours of Robson to the Cowboys or Dogs are true but the kid has no real future with us under Mary and I have no doubt he will move on at the end of the season .
Nothing more to say. I don't think anyone will be surprised with the team he always wanted !!!!!

It also highlights the absurdity of mucking up the template of a potentially successful side by trying to accommodate an individual who is erratic at best.

I respect your Titan supporter friends but I can only comment on what I have seen when watching GC games.
He seems more focused as player these days and undoubtedly has an impact when he comes on.

Say what you want.
His stats in 2018 were more than decent especially when you consider he is coming off the bench.
Lol of course they were, Rein was always a stats man! But his high run numbers didn’t reflect that he insisted in running on tackle 4, losing scoring opportunities and affecting the fluency of our 5th tackle options. His high tackle numbers didn’t show that his poor technique allowed opposition to gain extra metres and get a quick play the ball. And I don’t think there was a stat for the forward momentum he killed with his wayward passing!

The guy is an ok second string hooker, at best. He showed that last year (as a benchie for a bottom 4 team). He showed it at Penrith when he barely got a start in first grade. And he showed it for years with us, but we were the club dumb enough to keep giving him the 9 jersey.
