You mean an unsourced rumour is being taken as fact by the forum?
I’ve never seen this happen before..
The absence of a question mark at the end of the thread title says it all really...

Yep - Bennett did utilise Stanley as a 5/8 (off the bench mostly) but when Price took over, he intended on using Stanley at fullback. Lasted 2 games before he fel back to Morris and then Nightingale. Are you certain?

So now we need McInnes, Aitken and Lafai to all get injured. lolLet's face it, the only way we have any chance of finding out if Robson is going to be a gun first grade hooker is if 1) McInnes sustains a long term injury and McGregor resists moving Hunt to dummy half or 2) Robson, like Cook before him gets a chance with a smart progressive club under a smart coach for more money. There is next to no chance that McGregor can manage / balance the situation to keep Robson interested at St George as well as provide a potent weapon to the first grade team.
I don't recall Bennett bringing Kyle Stanley on and replacing Soward mid game ever.Yep - Bennett did utilise Stanley as a 5/8 (off the bench mostly) but when Price took over, he intended on using Stanley at fullback. Lasted 2 games before he fel back to Morris and then Nightingale.
But Bennett wasn't coaching us in 2012.That must’ve taken place in 2012, my 40th year.
I imbibed excessively over that 12 mood month period, which explains my lack of memory:
Played him at 5/8 in one game in 2010. In 2011 I think he played him off the bench as an additional attacking option (replacing a lock I think).I don't recall Bennett bringing Kyle Stanley on and replacing Soward mid game ever.

Yeah, Bennett started Kyle at 5/8 in our last premiership game in 2010 against Souths. That is the only game I remember him playing 5/8.Played him at 5/8 in one game in 2010. In 2011 I think he played him off the bench as an additional attacking option (replacing a lock I think).
Alas MaryI reckon Silverman shows more promise
He played 5/8 v Sharks at Win and was going great, alas, knee went again.Yeah, Bennett started Kyle at 5/8 in our last premiership game in 2010 against Souths. That is the only game I remember him playing 5/8.
Did you have a different mood every month or were there some moods that went longer and others shorter? That must’ve taken place in 2012, my 40th year.

I don't think your summation is totally fair but hey that's why we participate in this forum - right?.Lol of course they were, Rein was always a stats man! But his high run numbers didn’t reflect that he insisted in running on tackle 4, losing scoring opportunities and affecting the fluency of our 5th tackle options. His high tackle numbers didn’t show that his poor technique allowed opposition to gain extra metres and get a quick play the ball. And I don’t think there was a stat for the forward momentum he killed with his wayward passing!
The guy is an ok second string hooker, at best. He showed that last year (as a benchie for a bottom 4 team). He showed it at Penrith when he barely got a start in first grade. And he showed it for years with us, but we were the club dumb enough to keep giving him the 9 jersey.
What would you say if they gave another 2-3 years on top?I agree, we should have replace Mary last year, the year before and the year before. He must be the luckiest coach in the NRL to still have his job.
I would say it is already dumb having Mary as our coach for 5 and half years. 8 and half years would be dumber. They could make a movie about it.What would you say if they gave another 2-3 years on top?
He would then oversee an 8 year coaching dynasty of failure and incompetence.
It would be some kind of record...
It says a lot for us - we are absolutely terrible at talent identification, selection, development and retention. We prefer low skill players because they have better fitness or numbers and because they are local juniors.I don't think your summation is totally fair but hey that's why we participate in this forum - right?.
The most poignant point that you make is the last one.
While you only rate Rein as a second string hooker and a "benchie" for a bottom 4 club.
He started in over 100 first grade games for St. George.
Doesn't say much for us does it?
Millward provides the players in consultation with Mary I am sure. The point is Millward can't necessarily retain Robson if Mary doesn't give him a chance in first grade. Mary picks the team. Robson may well seek to further his career elsewhere if Mary doesn't play him decent minutes in the top team. Nothing much Millward can do about that.
Yeap ridiculous isn't it ? . We must be the only team that will carry a specialist fullback on the bench , Then shuffle the entire spine to get him game time .
We could simply use our two hookers in a rotation that would be a real weapon . Use the tackling machine for the first 20 or 25 mins then give him a rest and use Robson's superior attacking skills against tiring forwards .
Robson has stated he doesn't want to leave so simply give him another 2 years then work out next season who we need to move on to comply with the cap.
With a bit of man management / good coaching we could actual have the best hooker rotation in the competition for the next few years .
