I am very surprised that no one has rehashed this thread yet.
Robson was terrific today, playing out of position. Only really good footballers can do what Robson did today. I thought he was too small to carry on the bench as a middle forward (besides hooker). I thought he was just a specialist hooker, but today he showed that he is a real footballer. I am shaking my head is disbelief that he is reportedly signed with Nth Qld. I wanted to see him given a run at the start of the year. I would have been bringing him on with about 25 to go in the game, only using one interchange. After seeing him play lock today, I am going to make the decisive call and say that he will be a better hooker than McInnes. Given the opportunity he may be able to prove that he is already a better hooker than McInnes. This is Cook 2.0 situation. In 2 years time the 2 best hookers in the game will be ex Saints players.
I would have been giving Robson a run at the start of the year and told him to hold off signing any contract, until I make a decision on who would be my long term hooker. After seeing him today, it didn't take me long to make up my mind. Losing Robson will prove to be a massive lose. This lies solely on the shoulders of Mary. He can not identify talent and is poor at bringing talent through. If Robson had been given a run at the start of the season, we may have been able to keep him.
At the start of the season, there were reports that we may have been offloading McInnes to Parra. At the time myself and numerous others said that if we had to make a choice between Robson or McInnes, that we would have taken the gamble and chose Robson. Possm was another who said we should keep Robson. lol
ps, McInnes won't play for NSW in the future, unless Cook and Robson are both injured or suspended at the same time during origin.
I will add that there have been many people on this site who have had a huge opinion of Robson for a long time. You were all correct.
