Btw Dru, what's happened to all those Military teams, are they still playing somewhere?

OK so got some info on the Military.

Its run by Rasul Rasulavich, and is basically a few games that are played on Russian special holidays in a Round Robin style. There isn't any regular competition and the level of players is poor, physical but technically poor and many of the guys have seen a Rugby ball for the first time.

There is a hope that they will get into the next Military World Cup as well.

When Positive becomes Negative?

February 1st, 2012
By Daniel Andruczyk

Over the years I have been on many forums and posted on many articles about the need to grow Rugby League internationally. In general, some media in Australia aside, the consensus is that for the sport so survive, grow and thrive, then this is exactly what needs to happen. Now there are so many ideas floating around out there from many people about how this should be done, and this is wonderful to see, however over the years I have noticed something, and for a long time I was guilty of it. That thing is that we still seem to be elitist in Rugby League.

February 6TH, 2012
From Fanie Bredenhann

University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks) Rugby League again made history this past-weekend to gain ownership on both the 1st- & 2nd Division Cups – The prestige Rhino- & Protea Cup. The South African Rugby League-season for 2011-2012 came to a closure with some of the most enduring RL-games games. Tuks Groenkloof Campus, known to everybody as the campus for teachers, looked as a well-manicured putting green for some golf-estate. The weather was very hot and humid. Fortunately no rain interfered the outcome of the day.

I hope they can start a domestic competition, that should be the priority now that the 9's is out of the way. Same goes for Vanuatu.

By Daniel Andruczyk

So it has finally happened, the long awaited has arrived and hails to be a new dawn for the sport in Australia. Finally there is one governing body that “apparently” overseas all aspects of the sport in Australia. I say apparently since there are a couple areas seem to still be neglected by this commission, well it has been neglected by the media in their description of what the commission will be doing. Now don’t get me wrong I think its about time that in 104 years of the sport in Australia that we finally have this, however we need to make sure that it does what it is intended for.
