The day of the match and the Limerick Post has still never mentioned the World Cup but has 3 large stories on the Munster Rugby team and its front page is about Limerick University commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Night of the Broken Glass.

Just shows how much the League/Union divide still exists in the land of the big brown potato.

The bigotry is just confusing when it's the Irish doing it, especially considering the history of how they've treated sports like cricket and Union...

less of a divide more of a domination in Ireland. A small number may have been aware of Brian Carney in his playing days and some diehards in the domestic comp but that's it really. Growing up in northern Ireland I had friends who where deadset against league for no reason I could fathom and they were not posh gits either. I did know heaps who watched super league on sky but I wouldnt call them active supporters.

funny enough lots of folk come and go between my home town on the Irish sea coast and Whitehaven yet it never translated into a transfer of league in terms of playing grass roots but some generational support through Whitehaven folk moving in permanantley.

The only way I'll see it is if you post it, I don't use news limited sites if possible, but defo the terror. Filled with hateful drunken merkins making money rubbishing a sport they're supposed to cover.

At least there's some consistency while Bourbon Wilson is away.

That's like South Africans. I know a lot of South African surfers, most of them say they hate RL- dig a bit deeper and ask them why and the response you generally get is :-k

It's been drilled into them, they don't even know why they think that way. A few of the Saffas I know who have spent a lot of time here like RL now- SA is a market worth chipping away at in the future.

Funny that. I used to work with a Jewish South African immigrant (nice bloke) and he was a big league fan since moving here. In South Africa, I get the feeling he experienced some sort of racism and thus despised/went against Afrikaaner culture hence when he came across a sport like rugby league which also went against the norm (culture of suppression), it was a natural coming together :)

Who is Les Muir and why is he allowed to talk?

Les Muir is a hack Rugby Union nancy boy from Wagga who has a penchant for AFL.

He seemingly hates the fact that Wagga has a long and grand history in Rugby league (sadly its not the case today).

Utter moron.

I wish more people thought like that. Try and send a message to them.

Yes very much anti-league here at the moment. I've seen one poster for the game and that's in the hotel I'm staying in. Most people don't seem to know it's on.
