If they proceed with this folly, the response is simple.

Away team fans boycott Roosters home games.

It would demonstrate the unity of the rest of the clubs, and do some damage to the thing that the Roosters seem to care about most -the hip pocket. Give them a preview of the crowds to come in a Salary Cap free comp, i say.

Spot on...boycott your 1 away game versus the Goosters...your team wont miss you for 1 week.....they'll already be pumped enough to give these show ponies a hammering!!!!

yet when the Roosters wern't a strong club they exepect the then strong clubs to prop them up.

you just keep digging the hole deeper.

The Roosters have always been financially strong. That is why they are the only club that has participated in every season since 1908! When I say a strong club I am talking about MONEY you fool. Do me a favour and grow a brain.

The Cogburn idiocy continues!

I'd be nervous if I was you, because if the cap is scrapped and we have an open player market that crap club of yours will be in deep sh1t.

And if those clubs die where will the Roosters get players from?

Thats why your team have shit all fans cockburn because you are ruled by the dollar. You have to understand not everyone can be bought not everything is about money. roosters will now be known as the SYDNEY JUDAS ROOSTERS because they betrayed Rugby League.

JUDAS ROOSTERS

The Roosters haven't betrayed anyone. The club is simply looking after itself. If Gallop does the right thing and increases the cap for 2005 then legal action won't be necessary.

I just sent a vicious email to EASTS. How dare they do this to our game. They are now officially the most hated team in rugby league, over night. I can't wait till next season. it's NRL v Roosters. #### them!

Maybe Player X is a Rooster he'd fit right in over there
then they get Wayne Carey

The Roosters screw the other clubs
Player X screws the other players (financially)
and Carey screws the players wives

nice little family that.

how about this

1) Get the NRL to lobby the federal government to exclude sporting competions from any trading laws which actually happens in the USA where the salary cap and draft there are now totally legal.

2) Simply not invite the Roosters in the NRL when their contract is up. If roosters want to talk law then it is totally legal for a company to not renew a contracted employees licence if it has no benefit to the company e.g. NRL.

If we treat league strictly as a business, then the liecenses are essentially contracts. once they are up, who says the NRL has to renew it? cut and dry.

Mass riot Tamazoid. If people power is whats needed to defend our game, so be it. It's not the roosters that are going to be punished because of this course of action. Its the fans. Even though most of them deserve it...

Just agree to put up the cap for 2005, but put it up by 50 cents, then we have done all that they have asked of us.

I think at the end of 2005.

That works out well, because thats when the Gold Coast will probably be entering the comp. Then we can add the GC and the CC. This makes a good 16 team comp with 16 teams looking out for the best interests of rugby league.

Cogburn, you are correct in your statement that a salary cap is a restraint of trade, however, it is a restraint of trade that is required for this great competition to continue.
By scrapping the cap and creating an open market, it will become like the English Premier League where there are 2 or a maximum of 3 teams that can win the competition. This then alienates a huge number of fans who get sick of seeing the same team win all the time, and the game will slowly but surely die! (Soccer is like a religion in England, and that is why it survives and will always survive)
Therefore, the Roosters, who as you claim are rightfully looking out for themselves, would kill the game that is their business, and eventually they would have no business to be a part of.
How is that looking out for themselves, all it means is that as a financially strong club they will hang around until the end.
You can't have a one team competition!!!!

Thats to perfect.

Boycotting games is the way to go, but is there enough support for all home fans to do this?

As for the renewing of their license, just don't do it anyway, even if they don't sue
