We will be competitive for most of the game but when the whips are cracking that's when the sharks will win by up to 14.
If we had no suspensions or injuries we'd smash em
But unfortunately it isn't.
I don’t think that you can make any predictions with the way the rules are now. Who is to say that there won’t be multiple players sent to the bin?
Back to back to back 6 agains.
Send offs.
Anything can happen on game day.

Not a lot given away there but no excuses either
all pretty well said moving onto this Friday night and some growth to our depth and attitude required
Positive.. maybe not for this week but for the future

Love his calm demeanour , it must be an advantage with dealing with a shitload of players under 25. Whilst he agreed that our discipline needs to be spot on, it is not an area that the staff has be able to improve on but it is sure vital now !

The problem with tackling lower is that it enables the attacking players to off load more often for second phase movements. Additionally, there is much more chance of the defending tackler to injure himself by tackling low and hitting his head on the thigh, hip, leg of the attacking player so could end up with lots of HIA's/concussions so good tackling techniques have got to be put into place at training.

This is the time for Hook and Co to use their coaching skills, if they actually have any, to get our guys to tackle very effectively without causing any shoulder charges, head highs and head collisions in tackles to avoid sin bins/send offs and injuries to our players.
Then max two in the tackle (one chest-high one low) and no striping of the ball allowed. One marker and the attacking side back 10m.

All problems solved!

I also love the demeanour, I haven’t seen him whinge once. He’s very matter of fact and calm. He is definitely the right man for the job.

NRL: St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin urges Dragons not to play the victim following mass suspensions
The Dragons will be missing four suspended players for Friday’s clash against Cronulla, but coach Anthony Griffin won’t cop any excuses from his team.

St George Illawarra players have copped a combined 13 matches worth of suspensions this week, but coach Anthony Griffin is adamant the Dragons can’t be “victims” of the NRL’s high tackle crackdown.

Up to 12 Dragons players are sidelined, including Josh McGuire, Tyrell Fuimaono, Mikaele Ravalawa and Tariq Sims (all suspensions).

Fuimaono has accepted a five-week ban after he entered an early guilty plea for the high shot on Ryan Papenhuyzen that led to the Dragons forward being sent off in the 11th minute of Sunday’s clash.

McGuire will also sit out five weeks for a grade three dangerous contact charge after a hip drop tackle.

Ravalawa (shoulder charge) and Sims (dangerous contact) have been handed two and one game bans respectively.

Griffin knows the suspensions aren’t ideal, but he wants his side to move on and focus on Friday’s clash against Cronulla.

“What happened last weekend has happened. Personally, I‘d prefer it didn’t happen, but they’re the rules and we’ve got to play by them,” Griffin said in the lead-up to the Dragons’ clash with Cronulla on Friday night.

“We can‘t be victims to this situation.

“There’s a lot of things we’re going to learn about ourselves positionally and emotionally over the next few weeks.

“And that’ll only make us a stronger club.

“The challenge for us as a game is going to be what happens from here on now.”

Griffin, however, urged the league’s powerbrokers to keep their rulings on foul play constant.

“It needs to stay consistent now otherwise last weekend was tragic round,” he said.

“As long as they‘re the same rules every week now and for State of Origin and finals, well then, we’re all on the same page.”

Griffin was also happy to accept McGuire’s five-week ban for a hip drop tackle.

“Part of the reason he got five is because he’s got a lot of carryovers,” he said.

“But if that tackle is going to be ruled out of the game, it‘s ruled out of the game.

“And as a coach I‘m happy to go along with it.”

Hopefully Ford and Faamausili can cement their spots over the coming month. Both have huge potential imo.

Vanilla. Do we have anyone at the club with killer instinct, win at all costs mentality? This isn't the time to be diplomatic.

I like Hook's wisdom and calm demeanour let's see if the players have learnt some new techniques over the week but this submission to the bosses and our inability to lure proper stars has me a little concerned

It’s a real shame Billy Burns in his short Dragons career has been forced to play in a position to which he is not best suited.

I have read numerous posts from frustrated Dragons fans writing him off already and that is a shame because he really has all the attributes to be a very good NRL player if given the opportunity in his best position.

He will do his best, I wish him well and hope he comes out the other end once you get some players back.

Don’t write him off just yet, he is a great kid, just needs some time in his best position when things are going your way.

Game day.
My biggest question tonight is which Dragons side are we going to get? The side that showed up ready to play against Storm last week will go a long way toward winning vs the Sharks.
But if a the side that played the Tigers rolls out then Sharks will smell blood in the water.
We need to be energetic. There are young blokes playing out of position and early in their careers so we can cop a few errors, as long as the energy is there.
The senior blokes need to be perfect.
Go Dragons.

Don’t stress about it;
1. If you’re expecting Hook to do a big blow up, rant and rave and be an excuse merchant like O'Brien in front of the media well it’ll never happen...it’s just not his style, he has a dry sense of humour and his “tragic” round line is a classic little shot. I have been told behind closed doors players definitely know where they stand which is a step forward to where they were.
2. What can you do about it as a club anyway when you get legal advice saying don’t fight the charges. They ain’t gonna reverse it and so why focus on it
3. Don’t expect to be able to practice new technique they’ve had five day turnaround and probably only one decent training session which would’ve been captains run

Just look forward to a surprise Dragons win tonight, we are rank outsiders... As long as we don’t lose anyone in the bin or out of the stadium

With the Sharks 2 confirmed big outs I'm feeling much more enthusiastic about tonights clash. As others have said so long as the boys give it there all you can't ask much more than that.
My only worries are
1. Cody at fullback in defence and I’m not so sure about his hands around grubbers and catching of the highball is probably worse than MD
2. Max also for diffusing bombs and what I’ve seen of him the last week or so in defence is not good
3. and then there’s Billy Burns if he plays in the centre
4. and then if it rains

Come on dragons you can surprise me
We need to get one back on them
