I agree..he is a good fb.. and has been in nsw cup... untested at nrl there tho.

Not sure he has the ball playing skills to dominate there at nrl. He doesnt really have any ball skills.

Which clubs would he start at as an untested fb in the nrl?

Campbell is a gun brimson is there normally
Connor tracey had a blinder last week and looked better than kennedy has
Sloan is a decent fb with loads of potential

Not starting over
Latrell
Gutho
Walsh
Teddy
Ponga
Chk
Dyl
Drinkwater
Bula
Averillo

Maybe
Rapana
Meaney

But ill say again his untested there in the nrl.

He is one of my favs but hed need to develop parts of his game to excel there. Doesnt mean he wouldn't be great at some parts of play there tho
I'd take him over CHK and Averillo easy

Boys looked a bit flat tbh possibly due to short turn around. I thought both hookers did well with the ball but geez we missed Kenny in the middle defensively. We've had top notch defensive hookers with Api and Kenny, you really notice it without one there. Missed Luai a fair bit in defence as well, lucky we had Critta out there making big defensive plays. Gonna miss that defence next year big time.

Uglyish win. I think we would've got right on top in the first half if not for a couple silly plays, Cogger dummy half run and penalty after passing to an offside Critta and Yeo with a very silly holding down penalty, not only did they both lead to tries but both penalties came when we were right on top field position wise.

Sommerton showed his ability to run and beat defenders in his fairly limited minutes. He will really push Soni for that bench spot next season.
Depending on his defence, soni might slip off atrackers, but he slows him down enough that others can stop them, sommerton missed and slipped off fairly quickly on some.. and ended up being targeted by sipley near the line

Sommerton was the opposite of how I expected him to go. I thought he'd be stronger defensively than Luke but not quiet as electric from dummy half.

But his runs looked incredibly dangerous and his defence looked really weak. Unbelievable how important Kenny is to our side now.

I'm really happy with the win all things considered.

Manly came ready with a really disruptive and unorthodox gameplan. High risk, high reward. Had it come off for them early, who knows what would have happened. As it turns out, we countered a couple of big plays and converted them into points - which ended up being the difference.

Thought both Hookers looked good with the ball - Soni in particular picked his opportunities perfectly, and didn't overplay his hand. Sommerton hung in there really tough in his first stint. He was blowing heavily within the first 5mins, and was struggling with the pace of the game, but dug really deep. Defensively neither is anywhere near Kenny, and it showed early on. Manly were able to punch into our line in the middle, and then found space out wide.

Our scramble defence is incredible though. Edwards is an S-tier fullback, and never looked in danger of being beaten when they were in open space. He just uses the sideline as an extra defender, and chops them down - while also allowing our remaining defenders as much time as possible to get set for the next tackle.

Thought Hosking's 1-on-1 defence was much improved this week. Manly obviously targeted the left-side more (rightly so), but they got nothing through Hosking regardless. I thought his first contact last week was very ordinary - not so last night.

Our forward pack were all strong again. Sorrenson ran some good lines without luck, Leota left 2 tries out there with his dick fingers, and Martin's kick chase remains the best in the game. Don't need to mention Yeo, he just gets it right everytime.

Hopefully we have enough players back next week to give some of our walking wounded a rest. Edwards in particular. Without knowing the particulars around Kenny's injury, and extra week off for him shouldn't hurt either. It's a short turn-around between the Titans and Eels games - let's just trust the depth for now.

Also, the ref was absolutly useless. Gave fans of other clubs far too much ammo for the 'refs favour the Panthers' narrative. Some of those non-knock on calls were stinkers - and the deer in headlights moment right on half-time after the 20m restart were very ordinary. Still think we were deserving winners - but I'd rather take the ref's influence out of the equation altogether.

Not overly worried about other teams trying to employ similar tactics to try and beat us. The teams we'll play in the finals should all back their ability to get into the grind - rather than relying on high-risk trick shots.

Why does he need to be tested in the NRL.

He’s played plenty in NSW cup

He played a World Cup at FB and did well.

He’s proven he’s up to the physicality of the NRL.

He would be fine playing FB for us at NRL, no reason to think otherwise
