I’m expecting a win, we tend to play better when there’s nothing to play for.

The real test will be during the offseason, there’s a lot of soul searching to be done.

Agree
No improvement this year to last , no real improvement thru the year like good teams do
No significant signings and losing SuA who I think is a good player
If we have the same shit coach then we will be same or worse next year
Turpin and Liddle are no solutions , they are absolute rejects with so many flaws its not funny
Clearly a number of the team cannot stand him
But the real potential for our best players (SOO Level) to move on:
Hunt
Sims
Su'A

With hearing nothing but crickets on which 'significant players' are being recruited to replace the above.

Another season over. But the Broncos are a mathematical chance of making the 8. Raiders on same points but have better F/A and are playing the Titans, slim chance I know but still a slim chance. Dragons have nothing to play for as a team and Club and will likely get at least 1 sin bin player and give away countless tackle restarts. Anyway Dragon’s by 8, in a stop/ start affair.

I have been one of many on the forum critical of our club, but when I take a less emotional view I keep thinking “what could be” for our club.

Despite the totally incompetent management, the dark ages facilities, lack of pathways, poor coaching, mistake ridden team, most boring style of play etc etc we will actually finish on 24 points… maybe 26.

Look at tonight’s match at the new Allianz, last nights match at Commbank…. We seem to be operating in the 60’s at delapidated facilities and at a complete disadvantage to many other teams. But despite the inequities we have bumbled our way to 24 points… not far out of the 8

Imagine what we could achieve with a LITTLE bit more insightful management, a few more savvy decisions on rostering, coaching, 3rd party sponsorships, corporate involvement …...it’s there to be achieved if we have a club who wants success… the supporters certainly do!!

Hope your right about the Dragons by 8.....Im not convinced tbh....would be nice to shove it up Langer.....knock the Donkeys out of the finals...and message him with "St George can play"...and just a correction mate the Raiders play the Tigers on Sunday

How many players can be played out of their best position today? Hook might set a PB.

Some of our young guns would have started the year full of excitement and they end it with barely any time on field and in the wrong position 🙁

I am actually scared for Sloan, at some point he is going to get found out in a big way on the wing.

Saints only look good at 10th because the teams below are so poor. And Saints struggled to beat last placed tigers. They should not have won that game. People that look at the table and say Saints had a better season than expected must be watching something different to other fans as the team has been playing terrible football, selections are shocking with clear favoritism shown to Qlders and old has-beens ahead of promising juniors as well as players looking to leave. There is also no backbone to go up against the poor officiating against Saints as they are getting the rough end of the stick. The coach should be blowing up each press conference not looking like he missed the game and just saw the score at the end. Seriously some of the comments look as if he did not watch the game and just got told last minute what the score was. A proper coach would be showing examples of Storm tackles and compare then to ones Saints get pinned on every week and asking for a please explain not just accepting that we are the most ill disciplined team in the NRL. Olam v Rava was a prime example and should have been done last year.
Agree, and players like James Graham, who have been signed by the club, well after their used by date, to publicly support the Hook in giving him a PASS MARK because we will finish 10th when at the start of the year we were favourites for the wooden spoon !!!

Look at it in this perspective. Newcastle won the comp in 1997 without any facilities. They had no doctor, physio or any of that stuff. They won the comp again in 2001 and still the most unprofessional outfit. Sometimes it's just the desire of the players and the coach.

Looking forward to Father’s Day tomorrow. Season over and a day I don’t have to worry about game day. Could be even better if we get flogged today and Hook’s hooked.

Sloan was quiet and didn't bob up much to take the ball.
Because that dill of a coach is playing him in the wrong position. Yes Sloan has the pace of a wingman but hey, Hook take off the blinkers, the kid also has skill and vision, totally wasted waiting for the leather out on the wing.

How true Draginzaar, the johns brothers and Mal Reilly he had a huge influence on the team it was very similar to English footy the way he ran the footy team as you said they didn’t have a lot. He was a good guy but scary real scary, he was one tough man and coach that’s what made newie premiers.

Agreed, but having a young, future immortal running the team didn't hurt.
