Also, from the Sydney Morning Herald,

IF BUNNIES CAN’T STOP VICTOR THE INFLICTOR THEY WILL BE ROADKILL

The first time I saw Victor Radley play for the Roosters was an under-20 s match against South Sydney. The Bunnies were giving them a bath, but here was this bloke tearing into them as well as his teammates, screaming at them, trying to inspire them.

‘‘ Who’s this guy?’’ I asked.

‘‘ A local junior,’’ I was told.

‘‘ What? A local junior for the Roosters? That’s unbelievable.’’

I did some more digging and learnt he was from Bronte in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Over time, I’ve got to know Radley a little more and realised how much passion he has for the game and, mostly, his club.

It was always clear he was going to make it, first at hooker but now in that ball-playing lock role that really suits his game.

There’s been a lot said about Latrell Mitchell heading into tomorrow night’s match between the Roosters and South Sydney, but I reckon Radley is the one to watch.

Keeping emotions in check will be important in this one, but that’s easier said than done. You can’t tell a player like Radley or Mitchell to tone it down too much. That’s their personality. If they pull it back, their timing will be out even more. The problem is the way they play doesn’t leave much room for error, as we saw in last year’s match between these sides when Mitchell fractured Joey Manu’s cheekbone.

A lot’s been made about that tackle. People say it was deliberate, which is rubbish: he had Manu’s chest as his target and, at the last minute, Manu dropped and Mitchell hit him in the face.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow night at Accor Stadium and that’s a huge advantage for the Roosters. Souths rely on ball movement to get the job done, even though their attack is still very clunky. They took the Storm to golden point in round two, but the scoreboard flattered them. They were never in the game until the two sin bins in the second half. The loss of not only halfback Adam Renyolds but centre Dane Gagai was so evident against Melbourne. They created a handful of chances on the edges but couldn’t nail the last pass.

Souths must take some pressure off five-eighth Cody Walker and that comes down to hooker Damien Cook, who needs to get out of dummy-half more. They need more variation in their game, taking greater advantage of Cameron Murray’s play-the-balls , the quickest in the comp. The Roosters improved a lot against Manly after their first round-loss to the Knights. Luke Keary especially looked better in just his second game back from that knee injury. Joey’s tip: Roosters by 6. First try-scorer : James Tedesco. Man of the match: James Tedesco.
Andrew Johns once again proves he is the worst tipper in RL 😂😂😂

3- J Arrow. Easily the man's best game for the squad. Everywhere on the field and non-stop threatening performance.
2- Murray. What can a fellow humanoid say about SuperCam? Breathtaking effort and composure.
1- Cook. His best for some time. Not only in attack but great effort in defense too.
Special mention:
Milne. Yes he is still a little rusty but his effort and offloads were tremendous. I think on one occasion his offload got the squad down the field some 35-40 metres after Easts had us pinned. Its obvious he should have been a centre from the get go. Bennett had no trouble playing him there and usually the squad scored plenty of points.

I’m not anti-rooster at all, but you can’t have half your side Morris-dancing around the ball like that waiting for someone to stroll past and happen to pick it up. A couple of passes and it’s done.

Awesome try.

3 points Murray, 2 points Arrow & 1 pt Tedesco.

Great coaching. JD kicked on from the good signs last week and now owns Robbo.

Could it be that Renno is old news?

Oh my god what a night!! Seriously, what a friggin glorious night! Always an amazing feeling to beat the Roosters but tonight just seems that extra bit special for me. We've been through a lot since losing the Grand Final last year and have copped a lot of heat about the side and the coach from all angles. So winning tonight is just so sweet in that regard. It shuts all that up and shows what we're capable of. Not to mention it was our homecoming for the first time in nine months and Cookie's 150th. Tonight is just so, so sweet and honestly, I feel a bit emotional because it means so much. To win, against all the odds, against the arch rivals, with everyone writing us off; It's just amazing. After everything we've been through recently, that will forever go down as one of my favourite Regular Season wins.

I knew we had that in us, even during the last two weeks I knew we had it in us and we just turned up tonight with a great attitude and showed everyone what we are capable of. The boys were emotional and physical, they wanted it more than the Roosters. We showed some real grit, passion and pride, and just bashed them through the middle all game, that's where it was won. Mega effort from the pack, they completely dominated!

Our attack still looked a little clunky at times but we did still show signs of improvement and it was enough to score some nice tries and get the win. Defence as a whole was very impressive once again too. Apart from the odd slip up, we held them out very well.

Just so, so pumped tonight, what a win. Another win against our arch-rivals. It's the kind of win that can really ignite a Season too and I hope that proves to be the case. We should take a lot out of this one.

Let's lap it all up and enjoy it, the boys have earnt it!!

Glory, Glory!!!!!

Well it seemed to be the momentum from last week carried through to the line speed in the first half.

Murray is climbing back. Arrow was superb.

I said it last week, but your coach is looking totally ominous.

I guess Bennett wouldn’t work with anyone who wasn’t talented. I think we need DM at the Tigers. I’d be approaching him already.

Im so glad i was wrong,so happy, great game boys, glory glory!!
How did the nsw cup go? Anyone?

got beat, we let “Norths” score some easy, soft tries early
but to their credit, the young fellas started to find their feet & looked like they were getting used to the bigger, faster players, they defended much better in the second half, scored some good tries
ended up 24-14 & if it had stayed like it was early in the first half I would have walked away disappointed but I definitely saw some progress with quite a few young boys playing above their age group & starting to get the hang of it
not all doom & gloom despite the result
