I disagree. Like I said in an earlier post I can live with him being out of funk in attack especially when the whole team has looked that way at times this year but their first two tries came off the back of luais dumb plays last night, the penalty and then the dumb pass straight to a Newcastle player. When cleary is not making great decisions or the attacks not working he still kicks well and finds a way to have a positive impact on games like last night. If Luai is not playing well or the attacks not working the least he can do is not shoot us in the foot with his brain farts.

Are we paying Nathan $1.2m just for a kicking game though?

They both have different strengths though. When nothing is happening Cleary kicks, Luai runs it. He didn't miss a tackle last night ran for more metres and had more tackle breaks then To'o.

The attack has been garbage all around that is on the team as a whole not just 1 guy

nathan is ahead of Luai in pretty much every attacking stat including average metres ran per game. I’m not blaming Luai for the entire teams attack just his own dumb plays.

I agree with those saying Luai has been rubbish. In 7 games this year his biggest positive contribution is having flowing locks. In saying that I'll back him to turn it around. The left side has been pretty poor in general.

I know people don't like to bag out Tago but he has been a hog lately. Atleast 5 chances have gone begging due to hogging it. Tago passes them and the left side looks much better.

Though passes to the left just aren't hitting the mark we are talking even from Yeo and Cleary

Not according to Fox Sports stats. Luai has more run metres. More tackle breaks, More line breaks

Both have 8 errors

Say we drop Luai does the left get any better?

Its a problem on both sides.

Brian To'o is actually one of the best finishers in the game. The problem is you never see him finish anything.

spot on. Opposition outside backs are rushing in on the halves/backrowers and shutting down options. As a result we struggle when attacking their line

He should be on his pay cheque.

Im not saying we should drop him, we have no one to bring in and he has enough runs on the board to persist with during a rough patch, that being said if Luai was out injured and cogger was in I don’t think that side would get worse in attack, that’s how bad I think he’s been. At the end of the day I’m just giving my opinion that his form has been terrible and you keep coming back with “oh but Nathan” or speaking about what other players should’ve done, nothing changes the fact that Luai is terribly ineffective right now in attack and despite defending well he gives up crucial unforced penalties.

Dude both have 8 errors.

How many of Cleary's errors has been due to someone throwing a stupid pass or the defence rushing him?

The fact Cleary can kick us out of trouble has the focus on Luai instead of the side as a whole.

Teams have worked us out that is where the side's attack sits now. It needs a re tool across the board.

They both have 8 errors but cleary is still playing a hell of a lot better than Luai. It’s not even close.

For sure, maybe we need to see cleary and laui letting them harbour bridge passes fly and some short grubbers behind the line earlier.
Laui practically has forgotten all about the grubbers he use to dribble in 2/3 a game

Something like that, I back them to sort it just will take time

So our left side attack has been rubbish? Because he plays a major role in that.
Pretty much, not having settled on an 11 isn't helping either. That part is no ones fault though. The best it's looked all year is with WGDP out there.

For me it is the lack of variety that is killing us. No long passes or kicks behind the line, The halves have 6 Forced Drop outs between them. I can't remember anyone throwing a cut out pass this year. All very predictable

Just saw the game stats we completed 14/25 in the first 60 minutes and were terrible. We then complete d our last 17 without errors!!!!!

To me that says it all. Prepared to get down in the dirt when the game was in the balance and win ugly.

A couple of years ago, folks on platforms such as this, complained that Penrith could only win one day. Last night proved otherwise.

It was Yucky, and ugly, but it was a win and 2 points
