I'm hoping with the new licensing, and if SL can land a decent tv deal, we might see SL go to 14 clubs with London and Toulouse to come in. That would be a solid result for ESL
Salford and Hudds really don't offer much and Salford are in real strife, and Leigh is another Toronto potentially waiting to happen. We might see some movement in SL in years to come

Super league needs money

looks like the tv deal will go up a bit

every game needs to be televised ie shown at different times

need to keep and expand channel four coverage

they signed sbw on a 5 million pa contract

they had no home games in Toronto due to covid which is when the rfl should’ve stepped in and helped them

unlike all the other bludger English clubs who got covid loans from the English govt and money to pay their players argyle had to cover it all with no tv money

When new owner LiViolsi stepped in and guaranteed all future finances it was put to a vote by the clubs to let Toronto re-enter and surprise surprise!!! the clubs voted in self interest and voted 'No' to Toronto. The Wolfpack were a spectacular success...with Ottawa given the green light and NY and Boston in the pipeline why would any club vote 'Yes' and have thier place in the ESL threatened by Yanks ???

No tv money for Toronto but when Leigh took their place they found a milllion pounds for them

a week after the super league clubs. Voted no on Toronto due to fiinances Salford entered administration. And wakey couldn’t pay players

the funniest thing was when river elstone did a study and decided that the city of Toronto offered zero commercial advantage to super league

It's a bit rich claiming the ESL insular in comparison.

Yeah you're correct, why have a team in North America that wouldn't cost the ESL 1 cent ? Seems a no brainer to let Toronto in ... except to you and the 8 clubs facing relegation who voted No!

You forget to mention the hurdles put in front of Toronto during covid, any team in any competition on the planet would have gone bust under those circumstances.

The NRL is just as frustrating. At least they've gone into Vic and NZ.

Hopefully the next team is Perth followed by NZ2...if it's another QLD team it'll be a punch to the guts to those of us that want true expansion.

In fairness to the Super League they have shown a willingness to expand, multiple pushes into London, Wales, 2 teams from France last season, Paris had a team in the early days, Toronto and Ottawa were inches away entering the league.

It makes it all the more baffling why they showed no interest in helping Toronoto during Covid or why they put it to the clubs to vote...it's the equivalent of asking Mark Robinson to cover all costs for the warroirs during covid without any assistance from the NRL...or asking Sydney clubs if they would like a team from Perth to enter the NRL on the proviso one of them is relegated.... I wonder which way the clubs would vote :/

The heartland clubs always stand in the way
Most attempts at expansion were from the clubs themselves not the league

The rfl made les catalans pay a 500k pound bond to play in the challenge cup something no English club had to do and they almost pulled out
