I'm amazed at how negative people are here... what was your reason for hating the game so much Beave?
Supersoniceagle I'd probably compare the two by a few various points:
There is a very flat line of attack in the game so passing wide wrecklessly will get intercepted, so you need to time your passes well and early in some cases and hit the correct players. If the defence is compressed, a long pass wide early, then calculated short passes can get your winger around the defence, or if uncompressed, passing wide then turning the play back inside works well. I'd basically say that you can play the same expansive way as you probably would in RL3, you need to calculate your play better.
Kicking game is alot better in all facets, except for the basic punt kick being probably 5-10 metres too short in general play (wind and bounce is needed to get a really long kick away). Chip and chase, grubbers, cross field kicks and bombs are more effective and can be chased specifically by players by holding down square and contested for.
Defence can be a pain and I'd probably say just letting the AI tackle mainly, while you controlling when to compress the defence and when to slide left or right works better... it can become a mess sometimes with unresponsive buttons sometimes.
Overall RL3 is probably easier to play and has more variety in attack by allowing a deep line but the extra thought put into gameplay required for RLL makes it more challenging but rewarding when you do something well as it is harder to break the line. The kicking game is better too in my opinion. The game is more similar to RL2 as pass to playmaker and passing options are there. Shoulder charges are in the game too.
