Well would he be coming here to play second row?? No, we have enough second rowers to fill two teams. I'd rather play Scott in the centres than Lawrence.

So SMH reports that the Eels never submitted Fa'aoso's insurance policy that we apparently sourced and organised. Now he appears to be out of pocket, and had engaged Hoppa's lawyer (surprise surprise) to handle the case

Another Proszenko scandal. What a suprise.

Ritchie had a condition before he went into this comeback. Does he think that after 1 or 2 games that he wins the lottery? That's not how life works mate.

He was a risky signing in the first place, with very little upside. More quality recruitment. But I agree with Gronk he knew the risks and no one forced him back now he wants a golden hand shake from us with is BS.

The precondition of him playing was that we get him insurance.

The whole delay in his registration was the NRL not approving his insurance.

If we didn't it's a massive f**kup.

I have to say it's a bit hard to believe though.

Surely the NRL would have needed his policy details before registering him?

Yeah take it with a grain of salt. The club was haggling over this for months and months.

IIRC the club was to seek insurance for $200k and underwrite a $800k top up.

Having said that the insurance is for a TPD - total and permanent disability. The onus will be on him to prove that he is worse off today than he was before he resumed playing. Plus I am sure that the terms of insurance would exclude pre-existing conditions.

Good luck with that Ritchie.

Very sketchy details in that article.

But if he did suffer injuries covered by the policy signed, and that policy wasn't actually lodged, that's not very cool (well it's not very cool if we did actually fail to lodge it fullstop).

Move to save NRL salary cap from third-party deals

The NRL is finally ready to confront one of the most contentious issues in the game after revealing an external consultant had been hired to begin a review of the third-party contract system.
The review is expected to take two months, with any potential changes coming into effect from next season, although the NRL will not rush through anything unless it is convinced it’s for the right reasons.

Proszenko must be a mate of Fitzy, he certainly seems to have an agenda in his articles.

Don't believe a word he writes.

As we all know, a policed salary cap creates a level playing field. Adding TPAs to the equation however reverses it.

BUT the NRL would be wary to scrap them all together simply because they would lose elite players to other codes as there would be an immediate drop in top player earnings.

Still haven't heard your suggestions as to how it could be fixed. And I wouldn't expect too much to come out of this inquiry other than maybe clarification of the definition of an associate.

The only solution that I can think of that has a chance is the use of a draft / waiver system similar to that which was knocked on the head by the courts in the Terry Hill case.

Its not about losing elite players for mine, its about the huge advantage the Politis and Co can get by arranging TPA that allegedly have nothing to do with the clubs

How can they possibly prove where a TPA originated ?

Brad Arthur has agreed to a new two-year extension at the Eels

Brad Arthur finally agreed to a new two-year contract extension at the Parramatta Eels ? but not before a last minute bombshell linking him to the vacant Newcastle Knights job.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that while Arthur and his manager Chris Orr were contemplating legal action against the Eels over a reneged agreement, a call was made to the Knights by a third party.

In the discussion it was mentioned champion five-eighth Kieran Foran could follow Arthur to Newcastle because he has an escape clause in his Eels contract if the coach goes elsewhere.

The Knights have since settled on their new coach and are expected to announce the appointment of former Dragons and UK Super League winning coach Nathan Brown in the next 48 hours.

Arthur?s decision to stay ends weeks of bickering and legal threats over his contract because the Eels board refused to honour the lucrative deal he originally agreed to with departed CEO Scott Seward.

?I?ve started something at Parra and I want to see it through as long as everything works out,? Arthur said last night. ?They?ve known all along I?m loyal to the fans, my staff, the players and the club.?

All along Souths chairman Nick Pappas has been kept in the dark and even went on social media to slam reports the Knights were chasing his coach.

Maguire addressed the media, declaring: ?I love this club and I?m staying.
?All those sorts of things (Knights speculation) have come out of rumour and talk and chat and for me we are only focused around this Friday (against the Sydney Roosters).?

?I want to be able to build a legacy in what I am doing.?
With Maguire confirming he?s staying, Arthur agreeing to terms and Brown set to be named Knights coach, another tumultuous of coaching sackings and changes appears all but settled.

The approach to the Knights on Arthur?s behalf was made in case his deal fell through at Parramatta.

?There were some disagreements behind closed doors,? said an Eels official.

?We were aware of the Knights phone all but were always hopeful the issues would be solved.?

I am not a salary cap auditor so I cant say how to fix it which doesn't stop me from wanting it gone.

We have rules in place for the salary cap too but that didn't stop Melbourne Storm from cheating their arses off.
