Turpin is unwanted by the Broncos.

I think he has shown only pure plod but has had shit coaching.

Worth a minimum contract?
Turpin has got all of Kenny's negatives but worse. The slowest and most inconsitent service in the comp, takes him a full second to double pump and nobody ever falls for it. Our jersey flegg hooker will be currently a better option.

But pure plod is an Ivan recruitment special.

I‘ve heard the Flegg hooker, Connor Mason, is the one they hope will be the future FG hooker. Might get a debut next year sometime. He’s got a kicking game as well which would be handy.

He's got vision and some reasonable pace that kid. All he needs to be is tough as nails and he's a starting hooker in the NRL standard.

Some guys can plod at the line but still get a reasonable ptb away with their strength, size, subtle footwork, threat of ball playing, etc like Eiso and as long as they win the ruck on d side of things that's reasonable.

Turpin's a specialist hooker who passes off the ground like a fill in prop playing hooker who thinks he's drawing in the markers like he's Cam Smith so holds the ball 2 seconds too long.

It's a deal breaker without even considering his running regardless of how much he plods. He'd stiffle attack if he went to the SL. Would have to play lock forward over there to maybe be viable little alone play decently here. Literally shouldn't make our reggies team.

That would have to be the plan. Buy time with Kenny/Luke until someone better comes along.

Buying time while we are at the peak of our powers doesn't seem like a sound strategy

It isn’t, but it’s the best we’ve got right now. I think we’ll regret not re-signing Api, but the overall cautious approach to the salary cap is the right one. Even if a few players fall through the cracks. In the past after we’ve had success we’ve gone to the bottom of the table very quickly, I think this new strategy is about preventing that.

I’ve previously felt you need to do everything possible to win now, but i‘ve come around to thinking that causes the boom/bust cycle.

We are paying $1.3m for a halfback due to hit his peak, Waiting 2-3 years makes no sense

I don't believe this Telegraph rubbish Staines is on near $500k.
The club is usually careful with there signings and re-signings.
We are not the Tigers!
The same paper had us retaining Crichton on $750k now their bullshit rich list has him at $625k.
Make it up as they go along.

Yes. Last week they had TPJ on 925k. That's also not true. He was signed for about 750k.
