Everyone thought the storm had great accountants and look how that turned out.

You can't take away Pattern(who had a front loaded contract and wouldn't have counted for much this year), Kimmorley, Hannant , Hickey and players who would have been on base deals such as Green, Harrison Gordon and Williams and replace them with Keating(who you paid more than we offered), Hodkinson(who you out bidded a few clubs for), Pritchard and Tolman would not be cheap at all! Plus Eastwood and Blair? Come on now don't be silly.

Millington if you believe the reports has doubled his pay by becoming a dog next year. Lett and Wright I doubt would be minimum players so that makes sense but as if you can take away 1 current rep player, 2 guys in their mid 30's and add THAT much.

I could see that

Hannant's $$ = Pritchard
Kimmorley = Hodkinson
Pattern = Keating
Hickey, Green = Tolman

Ok say the dogs players are on more than those players they bought you can throw in Millington at 100k.

But then to try and say Harrison, Gordon etc = Blair, Eastwood

Cap has gone up and we may have 3rd party deals in place which is all legal, i dont see the problem. We of all clubs are not dumb enough to go over the cap again.

Dogs hardly have a team of superstars. If you want to see that you only have to see the Broncos. We have a few decent players in the team but hardly a game breaker or world beater.

Name 1 player in the Bulldogs team that would be rated the best in his position. You'll be lucky to get a top 3.

It's not who is rated what it's what other teams would pay for them.

I count next year 8 SOO or internationals not counting Blair and Eastwood.

Goodwin
Idris
Morris
Turner
Halatau
Pritchard
Stagg
Ryan

Add to that Manly got beat with a 800k over 3 year deal for Hodkinson, bout the same for Tolman. Keating reported 200k deal.

Except for Ryan no one would be at the 8 year exception for cap exemption add to that Barba and Idris's payrise.

You expcet people not to talk.

As for the Broncos you mentioned.

Lockyer would be exempted or part of.

Gone

Folau ($400k)
Marsh
Sims
Setu
Winterstein
Michaels

Didn't spend all of the $400k they offered Hunt

Gain
Inglis
Hannant

Look through the team. Without Hodges, Lockyer, Folau, Parker and Thaiday to an extent Teo.

The rest are kids that wouldn't be on more then minimum wage as they come off contract they will have problems but ATM they would be fine

err, NO. Both Patten and Ryan were Front Loaded.

He would not be on very much at all

Sorry champ, you are 100% wrong on Ryan.

Patten was front loaded, Ryan is back-ended.... which is why the dogs were so keen to move him on.

Why would they be keen to move on their captain, who is still a bloody good player, if he was on a front-ended deal and they had already paid him most of his coin? Use your brain mate.

I am 100% wrong. If I am 100% wrong, you have 100% conclusive evidence of this. Not just a silly little tale of "why would they..."

Seeing as you asked though, I will tell you why. Bulldogs have had a couple of players leave during the pre season, mid contract (Willie Mason, Brent Sherwin, SBW) leaving large chunks of Salary Cap unused. To get around this and to benefit their recruitment today, they front loaded both Andrew Ryan and Luke Patten. Which is why you see the number of recruits along with Andrew Ryan still being in the team.

Both Ryan and Patten were never released. Nor were they told to go look elsewhere. Both Patten and Ryan wanted to look at their options and the club gave them their blessings due to the fantastic service they have given. Patten took that option. Ryan decided he wants to stay and that is why we are able to have him and make a large number of signings.
