Any good? Haven’t watched any warriors games this, but based on his 35pt avg in supercoach at centre…..feels like injury cover

From Toohey’s News; Adam Pompey from the Warriors is a target.

Yeah he says if we sign Pompey, re-sign Friz and Lucas takes up his option there are only 3 spots left for 2024.
I can only come up with 26 contracted players in that scenario, not sure who I'm missing?

1 Adam Elliott
2 Bradman Best
3 Dane Gagai
4 Daniel Saifiti
5 Greg Marzhew
6 Jack Hetherington
7 Jackson Hastings
8 Jacob Saifiti
9 Jayden Brailey
10 Kai Pearce-Paul
11 Kalyn Ponga
12 Krystian Mapapalangi
13 Lachlan Miller
14 Leo Thompson
15 Mathew Croker
16 Myles Martin
17 Oryn Keeley
18 Paul Bryan
19 Phoenix Crossland
20 Ryan Rivett
21 Simi Sasagi
22 Tyson Gamble
23 Will Pryce

24 Tyson Frizell

25 Dylan Lucas

26 Adam Pompey

Zero Tackle also reporting that we want to keep Tuala. I swear this club FFS.

Interesting though quote from AOB saying that he knows that the club are keen to keep him. Weird that he would word it like that rather than “we’re keen to keep him”. Perhaps more of a sign the club are making recruitment decisions away from AOB knowing he likely won’t be there next year?

Don’t read too much into it.

Unless the two Englishmen hit the ground running that squad is no better than this year
When do we start to get value out of these blokes that seem to have been around forever like Mapapalangi and Sisagi? Simi is 22 now...

Of all the problems we have, the one that seems most in our control is at least bringing a first grader or two that's worth feeding into first grade more than once or twice a decade. We seem utterly incapable. I'm not banging the "let's get more locals" drum, it's common sense that a club with our catchment and local leagues should be able to find the odd guy that can run a football and tackle. The best we seem to get is Brodie Joneses and Phoenix Crosslands...

We seem to be waiting for us to sign in from elsewhere all the answers to our problems... but it would make things a bit easier if we could find first graders in our own systems too. One of our many embarassments.

Simi I feel has suffered from AOB’s indecision of what his actual position is. Came to the club as a 5/8th, switched to centre than they had this obsession with turning everyone into a ball playing middle and he trained all off season in that role last year before being thrown back in the centres and even wing at one stage and now back in the centres as well as stints in the halves in NSW cup, add in a few untimely injuries and it’s no wonder he hasn’t developed.

100%. And it's not like our squads from under 16s to under 20s do bad. Why are we not getting any quality pushing through and putting serious claims to be in the top 17.

Even Oryn Keeley, I thought he'd be pushing Fitz or at least for a bench spot this year.

They're either not as good as we believe or AOB is stubborn.

Mhm sure. I mean that's part of my point really. We seem to be mismanaging them. We're incredibly reactionary and any plans we make for the future either fail and we need to adjust, or were never a good plan to begin with.

I just don't believe we're managing these kids well, and probably killing a lot of careers if they don't go to another club.

Something is going very wrong between SG ball and 1st grade and I believe the issue is our absolute failure to build any sort of depth which would strengthen our NSW cup side. A lot of these kids come into a very weak nsw cup side and often their first experience playing against men is getting pumped by 50 then they get dropped back to flegg, there’s also the issue of lack of leadership at the club, like when your leadership group includes the likes of Ponga, D Saf and Brailey who spends most of his time in rehab then who are the kids looking up to? Who’s setting the standards?

Also doesn't help that we just can't seem to find any NRL size bodies.

Aside from the Safs (who are tall but not thick, although tend to play over weight) and Fitz (who again is tall but not thick) everyone who comes out of our system seems to be quite undersized.

I wonder if we still judge kids on skill level at 15 instead of NRL potential at 20.

I don't think we like real athletes. What could they possibly offer? We just need the heart of Crossland and Brodie Jones.
