I’ve not really seen Henderson play. Not being from Newcastle don’t see a lot of our juniors. He’ll probably fail under Sticky, be released to the Storm and become a world beater and both Newcastle and Canberra will be rueing it haha.

Would be very happy with Trey Mooney. Great athlete with agility, a point of difference that we don't have much of. The few times I've seen him play he has been an absolute standout and the numbers seem to back that up. Have to wonder what we aren't seeing that's keeping him out of first grade though. A few games with more missed tackles than you'd like but those numbers without any context aren't always the best gauge.

Henderson looks pretty unassuming but is a strong defender, handy short kicking game and can catch lazy defenders off guard when he takes the line on. Has a knack for being in the right place to sniff out tries too (scored 6 in his last 5 games of Flegg for us). Rarely see him have a bad game. Would've rated him second or third out of our junior halves at the moment but not entirely convinced he has enough going for him as a playmaker to pencil him in as an NRL half anytime soon.

Also, we need to somehow get Miller off the books. a 3 year deal at starter money to stink it up is the type of thing that stuffs your roster. We are finally getting rid of Mann just to pony up on that ride again.

I don't think they're on chump change, yeah. I mean we're led to believe that they're highly rated prospects over there. Feels like a bit of a roll of the dice.

I think from memory a lot of clubs were after KPP too so I don’t think he would have come super cheap. They’ve both been in the England squad I think too.

Gus Gould was talking about them on his podcast last week and was saying they’re 2 of the best young prospects in England.

Looks like we were hoping for some Ponga like signings. Offer a bit more for untested rookies (by NRL standard at least) to get them here and hope they kick on. Time will tell if they do or not…

Aside from the Safs (who are tall but not thick, although tend to play over weight) and Fitz (who again is tall but not thick) everyone who comes out of our system seems to be quite undersized.

I wonder if we still judge kids on skill level at 15 instead of NRL potential at 20.

Inconsistency in a 20 year old doesn't worry me so much, it's expected. The main concern for me is that you never really know how backs from England will go against NRL defences. Forwards are a little more predictable as long as they can keep up, but defences over there are just several tiers down from NRL defences.

He doesn't look like contact worries him too much (he's quite happy to dig into the line and ballplay), and he seems to have natural instincts with the ball in hand - which is unsurprising given his pedigree. We'll just have to see how he goes. I'm not upset to have him coming, but it's a gamble.

Decent at organising our shape. We're throwing more structure at teams than we have in the past few years. Not a threat at all on his own though, and it's an issue.

Hastings ticks a lot of boxes but he’s just so slow and isn’t a running threat. Overall he’s been good for us though
