Rumoured Targets 3

I don't reckon we've given up on Bird. It still seems like he's Brown's top priority. I don't have any problems with his latest misdemeanour, reckon that was a massive beat up, and I have suspicions that Titans let it out because they don't want him anymore. I do however remember hearing a rumour a few weeks back that we were going to offer him a three year deal... I reckon that would be stupidity. Two years at the absolute maximum. Ideally we would get him on a one year deal and see how he goes, but I'm willing to risk the two-er. Three years, on big coin, absolutely no f***ing way!

I'm not liking the price tag apparently attached to Bird. $500k is too much for a guy who I think was lucky to make the NSW team over the last few years. He would improve our side for sure and would be an auto-select at #13 but is he going to actually bring $500k worth of value to the side? I think $350k would be a better reflection of where his career is at imo. $400k at most if Brown is prepared to pay a little bit of overs but on that coin he'd better deliver.

If Bird doesn't sign I think we put Buhrer at lock and have Barnett & Sione as our starting second row which I think is pretty solid. Then we would have J Saifiti and Korbin coming off the bench which would be a fairly strong second row rotation and both of those guys are capable of playing front row if our second row plays 80 mins.

if bird doesn't get sacked he gets 500k from the titans next year, why is he going to to take a pay cut to come to a team he hates that will run last?

He will only take a pay cut if he is out of options, I think it's pretty clear he wouldn't come here by choice anyway. It's more that I don't think he's worth $500k and I hope Brown doesn't offer him that much. I would rather we hold onto that money in case anyone decent comes onto the market in the next few months.

You can kind if see what Mooney and Brown are doing.

Both Kostjaysn and Buhrer arent superstars and neither attract huge dollars. But both are solid first graders who have both won grand finals and knows what it takes to be a succesful team, and neither are at the end of their careers by any stretch, Apparently buhrer is a great trainer and big talker.

Slowly we may be getting there, these small astute signings seem like not much now. In the future who knows.

He'll last a week before he is arrested in King Street any way. Let him be someone else's deadshit.

Who cares about Bird, now Buhrer is confirmed we can make do without him. Barnett has enough aggression for 2 Birds. Buhrer brings just as much experience as bird anyway.

If it's a straight swap Mooney has absolutely robbed Manly. If he can convince Valentine Holmes to come here then he may be a wizard.

Yeah I reckon if we get Bird now our pack would be too imbalanced with lots of small back rowers and no big guys. Chuck Buhrer at 13, have Sione and Barnett on the edges and rotate him with Korbin or Pauli and buy a prop or two.

Buhrer good signing especially if he isn't on too much coin.

Hopefully Rory signs soon as well and then I would still like to see a front rower plus another back row sign. If that happens then hopefully we can jag 5-6 wins next year and build on that for '18

Bird doesn't play like a small backrower though which is why I rate him. He makes 180 metres through the guts, just like Gallen.
