How am I making it unfair?
Other teams don't move to Brisbane because the broncos negotiated the exclusivity. News was never going to introduce competition to themselves.
THey negotiated exclusivity following super league, but that was 20 years ago.
I dont believe the ARLC would put up a fight if a club wanted to move to Suncorp and the Bronx just dont have the power to stop it.
("You" meaning "the club". They can bitch about the system all they like, but they are the ones refusing to TAKE ADVANTAGE of they system)
The club would be better off elsewhere, in a better market with more sponsorship opportunities. Newcastle is in a state of rebuild and the corporate money in the region is already kicking in. The club struggles to get sponsors at times let alone third parties.
If the NRL would ever allow it we should eat up all of Northern NSW and tap into all of that region, we'd become a CCoast/Newcastle/hunter/northern NSW team. It's not going to happen though and the status quo will continue.
Whats stopping us?
The ARLC has clearly it wants to be non-interventionist. They are hoping clubs will do their job for them.
This whole idea of "territory" is entirely non-existent. Clubs can go into eachothers territory and do what they like, the only problem is lazy clubs. If we want to claim everything from the Tweed to the Spit bridge, we absolutely could. What are the other clubs gonna do? Tell people they arent allowed to follow us?
Edit:
By not providing them with adequate resources.
The ARLC have an assload of cash they need to offload each year, what they are looking for is proposals on how to use it.
You cant expect them to come and dump a few million on our front desk, we need the CEO to go down the with a full plan/proposal and request the money.
