It has been suggested that the Dolphins will offer Matterson $1.5million over a three-year deal. So the Eels will have to match it to have a chance.

As things stand Parramatta have yet to make an offer, but Bennett says the Dolphins have put their cards on the table.

“Yes, we’ve had a meeting, so we’ll see what happens,” Bennett told Newscorp. “We’re very interested in Ryan. He came up here, we’ve had some talks and now we’ll wait and see what happens.”

There is some way to go before a deal can be hammered out. But the Dolphins do have a couple of things weighing in their favour. Dolphins recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan has worked with Matterson in the past.

$500k is pretty accurate value for him I think. Wouldn't go above $600k.

I'll believe Toohey when he reports a Knights player's salary but otherwise take all media contract figures with a grain of salt. They change from article to article, especially if there's an angle the writer is trying to push.

I'm pissed if it is 1.4m for Elliott.

Like why? What was the f**king competition for his signature? The bloody Raiders?

Why are we signing an average 28 year-old forward for 3 years as well? I cannot make sense of this at all.

At maximum he should be great depth/bench player.

Between he and Mann, they make 1 f**king million a year! Let that f**king sink in.

Is his agent Isaac Moses?

Maybe it will all work out? If we do get Pryce and KPP next year, we will need experience and stability around them.

How much is Fitzy on?

There is no way Elliotts deal is worth $1.4M

The hysterics in here over a supposed Telegraph story (Still hasnt been quoted in here mind you) is laughable

We didn’t pay 1.4 for Elliott with Matterson asking 1.5, particularly letting Barney walk for that sort of money too.

My guess is Elliott is about 950 over 3.

A very valid point, like we wanted to lock a plodder up for 3 years. There'd want to be an obvious plan unfold or on the face of it this is a terrible signing. Just adding more plod to the nuffies already in the roster.

NRL star Adam Elliott is set to join the Newcastle Knights in 2023, following his partner Millie Boyle to the club.

The Daily Telegraph reports Elliott told his teammates earlier in the week he would join the Knights next year after just one season at the Canberra Raiders.

The Daily Telegraph reported Canberra was looking to sign Elliott to an extension but the Knights swooped in with a multi-year deal worth $1.4 million.

The Knights are yet to confirm the signing as yet.

Elliott previously played for the Canterbury Bulldogs but was stood down for the remainder of the 2021 season after he was discovered by security in the men’s bathroom with NRLW star Boyle.

Raiders were offering more money than us according to Toohey a week or 2 ago. They gave him a 1-year lifeline this season, likely for a lot less than $500k, and I doubt his form this season has earned him a huge upgrade.

The fact he’s seemingly a package deal with the best NRLW player in the comp (who happens to be a Canberra local that they desperately want as their marquee signing when the enter the comp next year) probably has upped his price a bit. Still strongly doubt he’s sniffing $500k.

Raiders had him signed for 200 K this season, according to Fox Sports. If the Knights paid him over 300K - 350K they deserve an uppercut.

"Elliott’s off-field baggage cost him financially, with the Raiders reportedly paying him around $200,000 for the 2022 season."
