Rumours and Stuff

Do you really think that young players would not take the money ? Other than the club being an absolute basket case, like when Latrelle and others knocked back the Tigers, if they feel they are in good hands with Sheens or Gus they'll go.

LOL you think that players are going to the Tigers or Dogs because they will win a comp ?

Stefano and Paps send their best wishes along gronkdometer.

On the flip side, how many of those other blokes have a kicking game to take the pressure off their halves if required (long and short) and who of them throw a pass with as much quality and width as Rheed on a consistent basis? Strengths and weaknesses when you compare them all. Rheed shouldn't be sold short because he doesn't run like Cook or Grant et al...

The problem is with the new rules, a dummy halves running game is an equal number one asset along with good defense and passing game. Passing well and accurately is vital, but if you don't offer a high quality running game then your passing ends up being predictable and less effective. Running at the right time(it's an art) is massive and a teams fortunes can live or die on those plays. This is why the number 9 has become such an important position and only getting more so.

All 3 are vital and if you don't have all 3, then you are are not elite.

I agree.

Bodies in motion, deception and threat.

Players like Cody Walker who can run and pass in equal grand measure. That’s the future of strike.

The defenders are out in force, the only thing missing is Pou telling us all how average Mahoney is and how he’s easily replaceable…………..
He won’t be easily replaceable however on the flip side if he does leave you will make the gigantic leap that it’s because BA is the coach.

You do it too mate, you’re just with the opposition.

Yep. As if their manager's going to let them sign a long term extension for unders rather than going to market. This is why every merkin over the age of 14 has a manager these days, to avoid getting rorted by sneaky (but obvious) tricks. If deadshit fans on the internet can see it why would professional player agents not see it from a mile away?

Oh you're so right, no player ever re-signs before going to the open market. Whoever heard of such a thing? These imbeciles who think they know shit, hey pou? I'm so glad we have you to sort each dumb arse out when they come up with these outlandish and ridiculous statements and hair brained ideas.

Keep up your great work mate. You are so appreciated, but seldom praised. May the sun always shine on your face.

...and f**k your eyes merkin! 🤣

But it’s hardly a ringing endorsement of the coach and his staff is it??? Bea gave Mahoney his debut, the club gave him a shot after the Dogs punted him and this is the club he goes back too?? It can’t be all about the money, but it’s never Bea it’s always someone else’s fault the useless merkin is made of Teflon.

Developing quality spine players is something rare.
I understand the difficult position the club is in atm but reed would have been top of the list for me.
He should of been the priority as soon as our f**kwit skipper decided to be a drama Queen. At the end the day everyone off contract bar Mahoney was very replaceable. But but but it has to be the Dogs cheating because the club and coach never does anything wrong ever………..

Can someone actually explain what it is we did to ruin our junior base/development and what it is that they say they are doing to get it back to when it was great?

With a new club hitting the market and needing some names to build a fan base, how much would you have paid for Rheed prior to Nov 1, so that he didn’t test the market ?
Merkins know there's a new club in 2023 that's going to need thirty top 30 players. Did they think the players were all going to come from reserve grade or the UK. The mechanism for transferring these thirty players will be the player market. Every club should suffer a net loss of 1.875 players. Some of these will come from clubs' top 17s, and this should be more likely from clubs that are strong at the bottom of the top 17.

Long story short, every club should be weaker on average in 2023 to accommodate the Dolphins. Obviously some clubs will be weaker than others, and the salary cap should take the lion's share of talent from the top clubs. We know that isn't how the cap works in practice, but the Panthers have already lost one of their top players for 2023 along with the ones they lost for 2022. The fact we didn't win the comp shouldn't make us immune. Will the Storm and Souths keep all their off contract players? How about Manly and the Chooks?

As a few have mentioned previously if Mahoney signed with the Dolphins, I could understand and cop it. They have a war chest of funds to sign players and need a kill. Surprised they haven’t thrown silly money at someone yet to get something across the line. Secondly he is a local great chance to move back to QLD hometown boy comes good etc

But for him to go to the Dogs, A - where the f**k are the dogs getting the coin from? surely we should be able to compete with their offer and B - they let him go as a junior and I have read comments prior he was quite devo at the time etc but Parra took him in and it has worked well.. his whole fam are Parra supporters also.

The club is always bigger than the player, but there are a few things now that aren’t making sense.
It's not that the Dogs have more to spend than us (we have the most off contract players so we would have plenty to spend) but that they are willing to pay more than we are. Because they are desperate, like the Tigers. You should be more worried if we lost him to a 'well run' club like the Roosters or Storm.
