We valued him enough to sign him in the first place and he was in the top 17 at the time he got injured. How did we not value him? It’s likely his new club just valued him more.

A club intending to use him for 40 minutes should be willing to pay more than a club who only needs 25 minutes out of him. How effective he will be is the question, but for a club with a weak enough pack, Taupau’s 40th minute is probably worthwhile. I agree in our pack it likely wouldn’t be.

Try Round 1 of this season, when both were available... Blake selected at centre, Oppa selected in reggies. That shows the coach's full strength intention, which is what is being questioned - Blake only moved to the wing in round 2 because we had injuries there.

Simonsson was in the round one team as well, but at the time Opacic got injured Simonsson was in reserve grade. When you have a bunch of players at around the same standard, who gets picked comes down to a lot of temporary factors. Opacic isn’t better than Blake, he’s just different.

Remember how ordinary Opa was last year at the back end. Fmd suddenly he's irreplaceable after a decent half season? If we lost Russell and or some other youngster and kept him there'd be a riot in here.

Opacic was one of the best defensive 3/4. If the guy just had a bit more speed he would have been lethal. He could run very good lines. Very underrated and in the end sad to see him go. Very decent player.

I can’t agree with this revisionist history. Opacic had a fine end to the season and Blake was awful so I think peoples memories are skewed. Blake was pretty damn good at the end of 2021 and he is by far the more talented player..

It's a shame he struggles under the high ball because he really is a prototypical winger.

Hopefully he can improve over the off-season and as a team we can do a better job in pressuring the kicker.

Which all says absolutely nothing to correct your error in claiming the club hadn't preferred Blake at centre over Opacic, when they did do this in Round 1. That was the point being made... and your contributions (as usual) are pure fluff.

On talent, sure - Waqa is way better.

But Blake's defence pales in comparison to Opacic's.
