The appointment of former Cowboys boss Peter Parr at the Newcastle Knights has prompted speculation around embattled coach Adam O’Brien.

Probably because Parr is close to out-of-work coach Paul Green, who he worked alongside to deliver the 2015 premiership to North Queensland.

However Parr insists he is backing O’Brien.

“I can tell you the board wants him to succeed, “Parr said. “They like him.

“I can assure you nobody has said to me to come in and mount a case to get rid of him.

“I know these things can change quickly and I know I’m still close to Greeny but I haven’t even thought about another coach.”

It would be unwise of Parr to walk in and bring in Green so soon. If he did that and Green failed, then his head would be on the chopping block sooner than Green's.

Also if he brought Green in, it would feel like nepotism is stronger than ever and I'm pretty sure we're trying to shake that stigma.

Doubt Green would come in so quickly but where there's smoke, there's fire. Hopefully AOB is under a lot of scrutiny.

If the reason we didn't cut AOB earlier was because we were working on bringing in Parr as priority, I'm totally okay with that.

Parr arriving so late probably allows to AOB finish out the season, but there's no way a coach can survive being dead last in attack and defence... right?

Whether justified or not, there are a tonne of excuses to keep him and if he is liked internally - he stays.

Just read we've lost 13 of our last 15.

Nothing like added salt to the wound.

Did anyone watch his presser? I feel like I believe him but I feel like a sucker for doing so.

Basically he justified his position saying he was involved in 4 grand finals so he knows how teams and clubs prepare and he says we do train well but for some reason what we do is yet to be ingrained in us.

What do we do in training that looks good because I can't tell you anything that stands out on game day.

Decoys, structures, lines ran, change of direction, second-phase etc..

He really really needs a response from the players next week.

They showed the "highlights" not long ago... looked like a train crash

Are we doing opposed sessions against the local pub side and carving them up?

That's the only explanation for AOB thinking our training is looking good given our game performances
