Ok, so it’s being reported Mann was injured, and watching it back, he was clutching at his gunt from pretty early on.

AOB masterclass right here. Crossland and Gamble sitting in the same chair on the bench, and then Crossland finally gets on, spelling Saifiti at the 30 minute mark, whilst the busted Mann slots into a dynamic lock role.

One thing I want to get off my chest..

We've all seen the decline of the last 2.5 games and we can all see we are desperate for the BYE.

But in all honesty, this is just another excuse you wont see from top teams. Let's say we are rejuvinated after the BYE, what happens when we reach the finals and can't handle a tough month of footy?

So yeah I can acknowledge it's been a tough month for everyone, especially the coach, but surely there has to be something in place to ensure this doesn't happen. We can't just play 4 good games then wait for a BYE as our way of getting back on track.

I think you're reading too much in what was said at the presser. Coaches and captains just look to "survive" those questions giving away as little as possible. It's the media, they're talking to a room full of sharks looking for blood.

I would wager there were far less excuses and caveats given in the dressing sheds.

He's also not going to manage the sheds very well if he tears them down publicly after one performance like that. It's one thing to rip them a new arsehole to their face... but it has to be pretty serious to throw your players under the bus to the press.

I think you've missed my point mate, and perhaps I didn't do the best job of getting it across.

Nothing to do with what happened in the presser, my point is in relation to how we've looked the past few weeks.

We can see we've gone downhill and are looking like a team that's battered and out of energy. How do we ensure this doesn't happen again?

The good teams know how to prepare week after week, no matter how many wars they're in. They will find a way to get themselves up for it and be in the contest consistently.

Who's to say it's round 24 this year and we're looking great and have won 4 on the trot and all of them going down to the wire. We need to know how to manage the team and get them as fresh and prepared as possible. I won't be able to tolerate looking good for a month at the end of the season only to fizzle in the finals.

So I guess ultimately my point is, we need to learn how to manage the team a bit better week to week as we won't always have the BYE to save us. Each team faces adversity off the field, not just us.

Sure, I mean we need to be good and put in the effort all the time. I don't think anyone disagrees with that. I thought you were referring to AOBs comments where he talked about having a tough month and using it as an excuse for the performance. I don't think they'll be having that same conversation behind closed doors.

Yeah, the excuse of “we’ve had a tough 8 weeks because we need the bye “ is rubbish

our last bye is in round 19, that is 8 weeks between then and the finals. In some bizarro world where we make the finals, we will apparently be too unfit to play because it’s more than 8 weeks of footy in a row

Yeah, my point was that I don't think anyone is actually using that as an excuse, it's just a cheap non-inflammatory thing to say to get the media to move onto the next question.

Does everyone think Obi gives the boys the week off?
Possibly. If he does, I'd like to see the leadership group rally a bit of accountability and see the players doing overs off their own bat. Kalyn sounded like that was his personal attitude toward it post-match... it'd bbe nice if others followed that example.

I'm surprised you think Kalyn does overs at all.

He doesn't live and breath footy, he values his time away from the game and photography etc. I think he has previously stated he doesn't watch any footy other than reviews of Knights games.

He isn't a student of the game.

I don't think Kalyn does overs at all and agree with you, but he said he wasn't taking the break with his peers at the presser. That's what i was referencing.
