Breathless reporting on 7 news, when they went through the details, seems absolute mountain out of a molehill

If anything it proves who sells media space and clickbait, for instance the Broncos no show and consequent no investigation was far more damaging to the game, smells like you know who with possible elections around the corner.

FMD, they would rather mess the club up due to their fixation with "born to rule" , do you believe Rorters and bullscum don't offer facilitles to third party sponsors, get real. Hayne wasn't a registered player in 2015, oh well , we can expect little different while someone fiddles as the club burns and we sell clickbait in media and free to air tv and radio mates

what are the chances of that happening and how long would it take ?

sounds like one step forward and 2 steps backwards, at least now we have the devil we know

imagine if we had a complete new board and it was worse

is it worth the gamble ?

You raise some interesting cliches for consideration.

Because he initially stood up for his own he is "classless"? Believes everything the media tells you friend :)
Initially???? The piece of shit was still arguing the point while Alex was being carried off. He's just like his coach and his must win at all costs mentality. Who cares about the cap, other players or fans. Anything goes. The game will be much better when the big 3 finally f**k off and take their nut job coach with them.

Payments to Hayne - a non-player in 2015 - were either already counted under the cap (the fabled $52-80K termination payment for 2015), or separate payments for services rendered (promotional mention of/wearing apparel for the Eels in media). No biggie - and when you think of how many 49ers jersey sales he prompted here, then was probably a good investment if it created any interest in the Eels brand/apparel from over there.

The corporate seating/hospitality for TPA providers - I can't see how this is a biggie? The TPAs must be negotiated at arms length from the club between the player and the TPA provider... how else can any club "attract" players with the prospect of TPAs, other than to somehow "attract" potential TPA providers to be associated with the club, so that its players can access them?

This can only really be done by any club through provision of freebies such as seating/hospitality to potential TPA providers for their entertainment purposes. I'm sure the Broncos' Thoroughbred club (and our own/Moss's mooted whatever-it-was club) would operate on these lines, and the Roosters version through less formal networks?

As Delboy said if Schubert has made sure all past and present are clear of danger, the only issue that remains is the leak of Board documents to the media... factions and self-serving merkins. Bring on the NRL's governance changes/independent directors, as a way to rid our Board of this eternal nonsense .

(Nonsense which incidently didn't occur when Fitzy's men were in control of the Board/s....)

So Jake doesn't have a hissy fit, no one is suggesting the current board haven't made mistakes, however this latest round of stories appear to be nothing but clickbait fed by the usual suspects

Funny how certain ex controllers of the club seem to have fingers in this, 7 really struggles to put anything behind the story. When is the election again? and will the people behind these leaks to the media be seen then

What's a box for ten, fully catered, worth for every home game per year? I wouldn't have a clue. Let's guess 20k per year.
Now if I wanted to be a non club associated third party sponsor of Ryan Morgan and he could organise for me get to get the keys for said box then the company I work for would be all over it. Ryan knows he is worth $100k, signs with parra for $80k and still gets his worth and parra get the cap relief and I get a tax break.
I'm not associated with the club and everyone wins.
I hope there are no seats in the new stadium just fill it with boxes. We'd have the best roster in a heartbeat.
Surely that's at least part of the Nrl's beef here or am I missing something painfully obvious?

If I'm worth 300k per year but sign for 200k on the cap over 5 years but get paid 50k per year for the next 10 years ala Jarryd Hayne then how can that not be seen, by reasonable eyes, as a breach. Paying any ex players that are no longer contracted is murky and open for abuse. Imcertainly not surprised it's frowned upon. My example is extreme but not beyond the realms of possibility.

f**k this shit.

Independent board, appoint by the NRL. Don't have to be Eels fans at all just know how to run a registered club.

Actually even better, Bring the FC out of Receivership. Appoint an independent board to just run football, then transfer the NRL licence. Then the LC and its elections return to where it was when I first started voting, an afterthought.

It seems to me that current board apologists blame everyone else but the current board. Blaming former board members who have been banned from the club for over 4-5 years for leaking sensitive documents seems fanciful. Who leaked board meeting docs??

f**k that

the NRL don't even have a CEO and have staff quitting on a weekly basis

the clubs they run aren't doing well either

Jake, not sure the NRL should be running any club, they are hardly doing a bang up job with any of the clubs they are responsible for currently

You have to think that someone with a grudge did the damage, after all I think we all knew JH had been paid last year. From memory it was across all media

No argument that things could be run better, but potshots about these seemingly nothing issues are frustrating. Even non Eels fans think it's a joke that it's reported, still we have to put up with being the most covered team even when there are more important things to cover

Oh well, it gives ammunition to the morning dj

From my point of view as an average Eels supporter I have to say I am dismayed at the latest saga and all that goes with it. I bet there are a bunch of similar minded Eels supporters who would agree with me that we have all had enough of seeing our proud club being continually dragged through the mud from one crisis to the next. We've become the Kardashians of the NRL. I also figure it's no co-incidence that this gets maximum attention one week into the new season. If they keep this up without someone fixing it once and for all then I , as an average Eels supporter will find other avenues in sport to spend my hard earned on.

Just saw the 7 news report on Twitter, how f**king giddy was that merkin, Massoud? I've never seen someone so excited that the NRL has reopened the salary cap investigation.
