Semi Final week 1 Vs Manly

You would think we have learned our lessons with taking risks with injured players.

You would think so but what Frankus said earlier in the week has me concerned.
He usually pretty good with this stuff.

I wouldn't recommend him playing on it if there is any hint of tear still present. He could probably be strapped, needled and play no worries and be a world beater even with a small tear (1-2mm).

But the downside is in all likelihood it will swell and feel like he has sand in his knee joint all week and he will be no chance of playing the next weekend. Or worst case, he suffers a G3 (complete rupture).

Hope he is a fast healer and that is the reason he is playing.

Yeah and you would think we had learned Whare wasnt a fullback in 2013.

Its ridiculous how often we risk things that we shouldn't.

Edwards cant possibly be fit. Unless its to help hide Luai debuting

That is a good point about Whare lol.

Your last line might the case tbh, we do like to try and be sneaky with our team list.

Why can't he possibly be fit? They were saying 3 weeks and he's come back one week early, plus he's young so probably heals a bit quicker.

He probably won't be at his best but his positional play alone will be a huge boost. Having Whare back in the centres is much better than at FB

Ligaments in the knee take weeks to heal. He had a 3-5 week injury a weak MCL increases the chances of ACL rupturing so to be less than the 3 weeks could be a risk. Hopefully the 3-5 week was wrong and it was grade 1 which is 1-3 weeks

Edwards injury was noted at the start to be three weeks(he'd return at week two).

Griffin came out last week and said he's recovering quicker than expected.

Edwards was rehabbing more, he used his brace longer than he needed to which made his knee stable even quicker.

Honestly not surprised he's playing.I even called it.

Hopefully Griffin learns from last week, and RCG starts on the bench. Not sure who plays the Browne role, but I'd be tempted to move Merrin to prop, JFH to start at lock.
Bench of Katoa, Cartwright, RCG and Kikau

While Leota is an option too, I find him a bit slow around the ruck, and given how Manly played last week, I think he'd get caught flat footed. Merrin & Fish on the other hand are super defenders. Likewise off the bench, Leota just doesn't offer enough impact - Kikau in short bursts could be a game changer.

Sounds ok by me. Manly we ready for RCG last week. I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to the bench.

Bryce should start for CHN. Bryce played well last week and needs 80mins

Apparently Edwards trained all session at fullback with is greats news. Wonder where Luai trained? Although I assume he'd be 18th man if Edwards is back.

Rightly or wrongly you'd think Leota will come in from Browne and play that opening 20mins only.

I understand that it is a risk but I would much prefer to have Luai named on the bench in case Edwards breaks down (if he has been rushed back early). Of course size is also important against Manly's pack since they dominated us last week so a big guy on the bench wouldn't hurt.

No real need with Yeo and CHN in the side
