thats the thinking that has led to parra going 21 years without a comp...guaranteed if eels had a genuine superstar or 2 they would have won AT LEAST one comp in the past 21 years, probably even more

2001 comes to mind. But obviously their fans and fans of other loser sides have NFI.

Knights had Johns that year. Eels had no genuine superstar and that ended up being there downfall. Same goes with 2005 against Cowboys. The Cowboys had Thurston, and everyone expected Eels to win but again the fact that Eels had no superstar costed them. Look at the premiers of the past few years especially

2004 :: Bulldogs :: Sonny Bill Williams
2005 :: Tigers :: Benji Marshall
2006 :: Broncos :: Darren Lockyer
2007 :: Storm :: Greg Inglis

Parra don't have any players like these IMO

Lol some ppl on this thread need to stop w4nking over SBW - I voted Feleti because he's a better prospect, more durable, more versatile and better value. Its a pretty easy choice IMO.

Yeah SBW is injured heaps these days... :roll:

He broke his arm in the finals last year and played on... Other than that, he wasn't injured throughout the year.

Look past 2005 plz.

Voted Mateo he seems deadlier in attack all SBW is is a shoulder charge and a one handed carry.

Hahaha might as well call Dallas Johnson and Michael Luck superstars if Hindmarsh is one.

id go with SBW... even though i really like Mateo...

theres a big reason why SBW gets paid the big bucks... ive never seen a guy with the ability to turn a game as easy as he does...

just look at the last weekend... he saved the dogs from a drop out by holding the ball out of the ingoal with one hand... and then he charge down try.... i thought that pretty much turned the game in the bulldogs favor....

he may cost afew quid but he also earns it by getting bums on seats... and the bloke is still 22-23yrs old...

If i had to choose i'd take SBW, But i'm not to disappointed in having Mateo. And at half the cost. :)

Have i awoken in the Twilight Zone or something?

I think i must have, because it's a far more realisitic scenario than the one where 26 out of about 75 people would actually take Feleti Mateo over Sonny-Bill Williams.

No offense to mateo, he is a talented player who has finally found his place in 1st grade over the last year or so at the age of what? 24? But SBW is an absolute freak who has been blitzing them since 17 years of age.

Bottom line is im not sure whether i should be startled or offended by this comparison. And im not a Dogs support either.

You have no idea, how about Jarrad Hayne, Krisnan Inu, Feleti, Hindmarsh, Timana Tahu, THEY ARE/WERE GENUINE SUPERSTARS OF THE GAME. The Parra backline sh*ts all over the Canterbury 2004 backline plus some. We lost last year because the Storm were by far and away the best all year.

None of them are in the same class as the players he mentioned.
