Its time the rockstar paid the price for not playing to his worth. He should be sent to play in the cutters until his back to his best. Releasing him from his contract is stupid and it will only make him more of a sook then what he is already. He should be playing in the cutters where he belongs

As for price, he needs to start focusing on how to beat team's he's playing against instead of this crap where dealing up. Our second phase play was a joke there was no point even attempting it. Its quite obvious that we have no plan just set plays that don't even work against the team where playing.

precisely - and if not for any other reason that we don't have halves depth and at least if he was with the cutters he could potential come back up again for a game if needed. For him to get a release they must have signed someone - but even if they have - I would keep him on until his contract expires.

I'd say your club is looking to make a big play to get Craig Gower back from Super League but need to off load Soward first.

Really a sad way for him to leave if the rumors are true, Won't forget what he has done for the club and playing a big part in 2010, He will leave with all of my respect

My view is a little different; how unusaual!

I for a long tme have believed that Soward and Price have disagreed on the game plans. Soward remembers fondly how Bennett devised a plan in which Soward could stand deep in attack and defence making it very comfortable for him indeed. The trade-off was the accurate long kicks on the fifth tackle, a sprint from the deep with a long pass before the line or sometimes after sprinting through the line. So the bottom line here is there was minimal contact with opposing players - Soward likes that.

Bennett identified Soward's strengths and weaknesses and got the best out of him. This 'Soward game plan' was not adopted at SOO level and also not part of plans under Price. Hence Soward's fall from SOO and fall-out with Price. You can be absolutely sure that Penrith will take the Bennett road and Soward will once again weave his magic.

As for Price and the Dragons, all that can be said is that one of the main reasons the Dragons are performing so badly is because Price let go of the very things that made the squad so great.

Doust and Young did not replace one-for-one with the type of player Bennett put in place i.e. one hard-nosed forward for one hard-nosed forward and one top line fullback for one top line fullback etc.

Enough said other than to say that there is much to be done at many levels at our Club before things can be on track again.

Doesnt have to be his last game though.. its really in his hands.. but seems like we have a halfback signed soon and id personally like to see Sowie partner him later in the year, plus a proper farewell.. we obviously need to say goodbye, would be a bummer if the moment has passed.

Agree, I hope all Dragons fans show Soward the respect he deserves and not say derogatory things. He hasn't been at his best but he still tries hard and oh yeh I saw him lifting the NRL trophy in 2010 with emotion, passion and tears of joy. Soward is a modern day club champion for our club let's not forget.

This is a good, level headed post possm and I you'll get no arguments on those counts. However the present situation is what it is and Soward's inability to rise above it all is very poor form. He's signed to play for the Dragons until the end of the year ( on good money let's not forget ), the club, his team mates and the fans are all counting on him to do his best but what they're getting is a rather prolonged and very unprofessional dummy spit. He's not just under-performing his efforts recently are bordering on sabotage and I refuse to see him as a victim in any way. If he's upset with the coach, the coaching style or being released he can ask for an early release or do a Tallis.
What he's doing at the moment is disgraceful and incredibly selfish. I love my Dragons and I get upset when we're losing but I've never before got to a point where I'm yelling at the telly for the coach to get a player off the field like I did against the Panthers and again this weekend, to get Soward off the bloody field. I'd like him never to wear a Dragons jersey again, for his sake as much as ours, I feel that strongly about it and I was relieved to read today that that is a distinct possibility.
I'm not blaming him for our losses or our bad year but he's not helping, let him go.

This is all wrong, Soawrs now the scapegoat, while rest of squad, including coaching staff, walk away 'all care no responsibility'. Very poor form if this ends up being his exit...

Exactly my thoughts as well. We all agree that Soward can be a great player and Bennett got the best out of him at the right stage of his career but in a game that seems to be evolving quicker then in previous decades you have to be able to change with it. Bennett had him playing to his strengths but the other smart coaches figured out how to cancel him out which was obvious in the second half of 2011. He doesn't seem to be able to change his game and still be at the top of his class which is a shame because I use to be a big fan of his. We need a half with a bit of mongrel and vision and not afraid to get dirty. We need a player like rangi and the sooner the better.
