titans get less crowds than just about every sydney club

and have a brand new stadium as well

if any sydney club had a ground like that it would be 80% full

Gold Coast has one team, Sydney has 9. The NRL would be crazy to give up on the Titans and let AFL take over the Gold Coast.

Titans are a perfect example of a team that needs to merge with any Sydney club that gets culled or pushed out of Sydney.

There is no away support for this team and has very little history. By being 1/2 a Sydney team then they would get support while away and not just Sydney.

IMO they f**ked up calling the team the Titans, when there is so many Australian mascots that could've been used or something a little more beach/surf/sea or sea creature themes.

The Titans to me are a plastic team and if the Bombers get up and running I feel this team will have the same feel as the Titans

The name was supposed to be Dolphins but Redcliffe objected and the PUBLIC chose the name Titans by vote.

I agree. My entire argument in this thread is around the people that criticise the Sydney clubs and say nothing about the poorer regional teams.

Thing is buffalo the strength of Sydney teams should be in the local rivallaries and two sets of fans you can attract to games. The weaknesses are slicing the corporate $ and ltd fanbase in Sydney so thin it isn't sustainable. Out of town teams don't have the benefit of away fans but also don't have the competition though each club faces its own challenges ie warriors and raiders union, storm afl etc.

15k in melbourne is 95% storm fans, 15k at anz is two sets of fans. Sydney games featuring two Sydney clubs should be dragging our avg up not down!

There is no doubt all clubs need to improve and the NRL needs to get off its backside and have some positive fan initiatives.

and if they had the ground the gold coast has it would be double the titans

and the gold coast compete with zero other league sides in their market

against the out of state teams they would be lucky to bring 1000 tops

after 4 rounds the NRL crowd average was 16,413

4 clubs got higher than that average the rest were below

3 of those 4 clubs were in sydney.

looking at the bottom of the table, 4 out of the bottom 6 are all non sydney sides.

sydney sides are currently averaging : 16,533

so sydney sides on the whole are slightly above the crowd average
