Team list Tuesday Rd 10 v Roosters

I stand by the fact that no better alternative is available.

Unless Bellamy (wont happen), Cleary (wont happen) or Robinson (wont happen) are available (they're not) then you're not replacing him with someone better.

look at how the "new" coaches are doing across the nrl in recent years - O'Brien, Barrett, Holbrook etc.

Fitzy is doing a good job at cronulla, thus far, but lets judge him/them once we get through the entirety of the regular season - he hasn't faced much adversity at this time.

Would you give Madge a shot? He's probably the most realistic/experienced/successful coach that would be an option. Sure he won a comp, but then managed to lose the dressing room within 12 months. No thanks.

I broadly agree, but I could see a situation in wich Shane Flanagan might appear a credible option.

Yeah and i see that, and know a lot of people feel that way.

I'm just a bit "blah" on Flanagan. I think he's a good coach, but I have real issues with some stuff that has gone down in his tenure as a head coach that he cannot wash his hands of - peptides, salary cap, banning and ignoring the terms of his ban, etc.

I might be being too hard on him, but i guess i'm putting his character, or lack thereof (imo..) before his abilities as a coach

Honestly Suity, I don’t remember any of your opinions on any given topic. I just know you’re part of the mob here. You’re the kind of person who would say Ciraldo is better than Arthur’s. There’s about half a dozen merkins here who put obvious thought into their opinions and understand there’s no simple answers. Then there’s a critical mass of posters who just put shit on them. I see you doing plenty of putting shit on merkins.
I'm not a part of any "mob*.
I have my own opinions.
I will however, call out your shit for what it is. Particularly when you generalise like you have done in this case.

Of course Ciraldo is a risk. BA is tried and tested.
He could be better or he could be worse. But at some point we need to try something different. We can't just keep BA for the next 30yrs with similar results.

Lots of rookie coaches fail. Largely cause they end up at shit clubs who are in a red hot mess and why the coach was punted in the first place.

Coaches who have gone ok recently are Fitzgibbin and Payten. They come into ok squads and built on them.

Barrett, Brown,Holbrook all ended up at poor clubs. I reckon given our squad they would be doing better then are at own club.

BA has made some solid signings in his time. He also got extremely lucky with some duds. Had Foran contract not blown up or Watmough the whole BA experiment ended 5yrs ago.
We never would of landed Moses for starters. The rest is history.

But he did also lose 2016 due to the salary cap etc.

ANYHOWS if we are to change coaches and there is no great ones available then your forced to take a risk on a rookie. Reason why Ciraldo is being thrown around is cause people rate him. Same as BA when he w a s a rookie.

I also thought Holbrook would go well but his signings have been gash and same goes for his bizarre sqaud

Ciraldo certainly is the darling of assistant coaches atm.

Just because your an excellent assistant doesn't mean you will make a great head coach.

I am surprised some of these young coaches dont head to super league like Trent Robinson did and get to handle a top job in a professional environment. Where you can learn more about yourself in the head role without the scruitny of the NRL as your 1st main gig.

As i remember Adam O'Brien was supposedly part of the brains trust at Melbourne for a decade with their attack. And then went to roosters in 2019 to learn under robbo and was talked up by the Johns brothers as the next super coach.

That has worked out well for newcastle.

Kearney was a disaster despite having the benefit of learning from 2 of the best coaches in the last 30 years in Bennett and Bellamy.

Why would you head to the super league when stupid irrational clubs are prepared to throw FG coaching jobs with $$$ at you in the NRL??

saying that signing a rookie coach is a risk is laughable, when in fact signing any coach is a risk.

BA has been here on 10 years and we’ve seen his hand. I think we can all collectively say, he’s a decent coach, has made some monumental f ups, that loves his team playing a 1 dimensional game. Will this be enough to get us to a gf, let alone win one? Most don’t think so.

At the end of the day, it’s premiership success we’re chasing right? No coach can guarantee that, that’s for sure. But why are we continually trying something that keeps failing?

as far as I’m concerned Ba has had a decent shot and we need to at least start exploring other options.

I'm not against a new coach per se, but you don't make a change just because the past. How is the team travelling compared with the teams that have the same or better rosters ? Do they have the steel to compete? Are they improving ir going backwards ? These are the questions that MON needs to contemplate.

MON has brought in two consultations and grub in the last 12 months to fine tune what Parra ball is.

Make a change if we are stale or going backwards. Make a change because 36 years ! Is desperate and dumb.

FFS O'Neill doesn't choose the coach.
Is that a fact or your thoughts ?

Reporting to the Parramatta Eels Club CEO, Bernie Gurr, Mark will implement the overall football strategy with responsibilities across performance management, salary reviews and staff contracting. Mark will oversee all aspects of the Football Department including Recruitment, Junior Representative Program, High Performance Unit, Parramatta Junior League, Player Wellbeing and Education, football operations and training facilities.

Surely signing a coach for two more years who has not made a prelim and has been for here for 8 is also a risk?? As you said no coach isn’t a risk how would Bellamy or Robinson would go here without their big security blankets.

But to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the first signs of madness.
