Also mentioned Nrown isn’t in the team as BA believes he’s a similar player to Matterson and can only have one player of that ilk in the team otherwise they potentially unbalance the 17 in terms of coverage if there is injury. He did allude that he is waiting for an opportunity, and that it would come… I’m hoping it’s this weekend.

So what happens next season with Hopgood? He's a ball playing lock. Might be nsw cup player of the year again lol

It's funny I heard some experts talk about that Darwin game.

I rematched the mini.

No one has ironically mentioned we had Hayze Perham on the wing who was targeted where the cowboys scored 4 of there tries. On top of having Jake in the halves our attack was slow and cumbersome, Dylan looking disinterested in the centres.

We had 2 tries disallowed when it was 15-0 and Simmonson basically dropped the ball over the line with the line in sight.

3 tries came in last 5 and half mins. 19-4 it was at the time. Throw in those 3 tries we could have had that could went our way it's a lot closer game.
Correct and if you consider Gus’s breakdown of both the Sharks and Cows, these remaining 4 teams are at a different level than the rest. He’s predicting an Eel v Panther GF BTW.

Good point! I think he can play on an edge as well but I think is most effective through the middle for sure.

We need someone to play on Ice’s edge and we need someone to fill the Marata hole. I assume Rodwell will look after the Marata spot as he is huge.

Toni Mataele is in the mix. Morretti might be also if he has the hardest off-season ever.

What happened to Morretti but? I mean he barely saw NSW CUP. When did low minutes.

Mataele is not a real option if becomes one before 2024 id say.
I mentioned before. I have been told we don't have nothing that great who will make an impact that is ready for a few years and club will be looking outside. I was told 2 or 3 yrs away before any of our promising juniors are ready. Id imagine Mataele may be in that group.
Take of that what you will. Unsure where that leaves Russel or Morretti.

Well this is going to be a tough game….

Cowboys form / defence has dropped of a bit over the last part of the comp, however they have a lot more GF qualifier experience then us and are playing at home after a week off….

Reckon we have them covered in the middle, but their speed on the edges is a concern….

The conditions could be tough too….however if the boys are switch on, it shouldnt be an issue. Yeah 24 c is tough, but the boys train in that all offseason…

However, we have been building for this opportunity over the last few years. Our defence has improved last few weeks. And BA has generally got us up in final matches, no matter the opposition (year cowboys 17, Storm 19, weren’t great, but that was probably a class/experience issue)

I reckon if the good eels turn up, and complete high, scramble well in defence we should win.

Interestingly, the eels a few years ago were considered poor travelers, couldn’t win away…this year we have won at:

melbourne
Penrith
Newcastle
Brisbane
Brookvale
Canberra
Gold Coast

only a last minute loss at Cronulla, prevented a 100% record the year (games in the Sydney stadiums don’t really count)

and we have won our last game against cowboys in Townsville in 2019 and beat them in Darwin in 2018…not that this means a lot except we can beat them in these conditions….

Come on eels!!

And from same article, English player Jack Johnson whose testicle "exploded" during a training drill with Newcastle Thunder with Newcastle Thunder and had to be removed:

“[At least] my penis is still in full working order; I also asked if I could keep the testicle that was removed so I could put it in a jar on the mantelpiece in the living room, but they just got rid of it,” Johnson quipped.

The other thing to add to this

Plenty of guys leaving.

You would imagine they and the ones staying would want to give it their all and win a comp together. Also you dont know when the next opportunity will come for either group. The guys leaving aint going to potential premiership winning teams, and we potentially wont be as strong next year and beyond, especially if Moses or DBrown end up leaving

I don’t visit other forums very often but just thought I’d stick my head in to wish the Eels team and their loyal fans all the best against the Cowboys.

You guys have had a great year and are very capable of winning this next game and playing in the big one come GF day.

My heart always is with my beloved Dragons and I know only too well what a long wait between premierships is like so fingers crossed your long wait is almost over.

I’m also hoping the Rabbits get past that pussy, patronising, precocious Panthers lot and we have a GF with two old time Sydney teams.

Thanks mate but if the rabbits win this week we'll probably get smashed if we make the GF.

Hmm I heard Gerard Condon - the reading the play guy - pretty much shit can us this afternoon…. Hes’s a noted BA hater and he mentioned the Darwin game as Being “ over at half time” which I found interesting as most on here have said cows scored 3 late tries to blow the score out …. Add even more hilarious he played down our effort against the raiders… saying it was a soft game and not the best preparation cause raiders offered little resistance …… talk about digging hard to find a negative ….. Anyway he’s a merkin and f**k him ….
Yeah it didn't really make sense. Anyway if we win he won't be tipping us next week either against either Penrith or souths.

We played Penrith and Melbourne leading into Canberra.

2 battle hardened teams then got a soft kill against Canberra which was perfect really. Last thing we needed was another gruelling 80 mins.

Compared to cowboys who have played a sharks side who proved it wasn't finals ready and a reserve grade Penrith side in the last month.
