Whats everyones thoughts on Lussick on the bench? Dudes good, but he's a straight hooker and since we have Walker/Sironen/Jazz who can fill in at 9 if ever needed, I wonder if we'd be better suited having another bigger body on the bench.

Yeah I think it’s a bit out of whack, certainly if Sironen is there, or Walker is on the bench. Jazz we all know is best when he doesn’t have to play DH so I don’t factor him in there too much, and if Walker is at 6 he’s out of the equation too.

I like the idea of walker starting at 6 with volkman on the bench.

Volkman can come on after a bit when the defence isn't as stingy, and DW and move to lock/hooker etc.

Missing Harris against the roosters really showed that we missed a genuine ball playing option that middle to be moving the ball and shifting the defense around. I would defo like to see Volkman at 6 and Walker back into that middle role. Walker being stuck on an edge seems a waste. Obviously the wet weather against roosters made any ball playing tricky but with Walker in the middle I feel we would have created more.

I’d go with Volkam at 6 and Walker 13 until Tohu is back. Provides 3 ball playing options and 2 quality kickers. We were very 1 dimensional v Rorters, not that the weather helped. Curran off the bench making impact and like v Sharks, Walker can be shuffled into 6 late in game if situation required

Have to have Walker playing in the middle. 13 or 14. His speed through the middle worries defenders and helps SJ.

Webster has gone with a small, mobile, passing forward pack with great success so far. But the wet weather showed when it fails. Slippery conditions shut down passing plays in favour of kicking. It took away all of our advantages and played right into the hands of the Roosters. We ended up looking like a small pack often times dominated in the middle by a larger one.

Had the game been dry I think the result could have been very different. We didn't adapt as well to the conditions as they did. And putting someone like Lussick on the bench didn't help. We needed more big bodies for this one.

I'm also feeling over the Walker at 6 experiment. Again, partly due to the rain, his effectiveness was less. He'd be better as lock, backrower, or bench impact player. Volkman is worth a shot until Metcalf gets a few more weeks of training in. But Volkman will be a huge target on defence and I don't know that we can mitigate that. Walker is obviously a much stronger tackler and that may be why Webster will persist with him there.

We'll be out of the 8 after a loss to Penrith. How quickly that slide happened.

Alright. Lets have a go-

1- Nicoll-Klokstad
2- Watene-Zelezniak
3- Montoya
4- Pompey
5- Kosi
6- Walker
7- Johnson
8- Fonua-Blake
9- Egan
10- Afoa
11- Ford
12- Niukore
13- Curran

Res- Ale, Sifakula, Sironen, Volkman

Yuck

Ideally, we don't play Ford or Sironen- they're depth signings IMO, but our depth is being tested and it's not the time to bring in any more young players. We've got Sifakula there having another run.

Vailea was really average on the weekend. Perhaps Webster is right to play him in lower grades until his effort matches his talent. Really thought hard about a few of the NSW Cup outside backs as well- they're killing it (Graham-Taufa, Leiataua)

Harris, Barnett, Tevaga, Metcalfe makes this a much different team

Harris and CNK in and Vailea out, Curran to bench and Lussick out. I would prefer Lussick over Sironen. Sironen seems to be missing a lot of tackle and Lussick had been impressive

If Ford would cut out a few penalties he’s better than a depth signing. He’s had some nice performances this year.

Harris and CNK have both been named. Let’s see if that holds up by end of week.

He runs hard and runs good lines. Get him and Curran running off SJ and Tohu and we score a lot of tries.

Not quite must win. Would be good to win but a big ask. We are in a relatively good position though and negotiating a tough run- realistically, nobody expected us to win v Storm, Roosters or panthers
